Appearance
Cy is a slender, long-limbed tabaxi with tawny fur patterned by dark rosettes and a thick tail that curls around her ankles when she is thinking. She stands with her weight slightly forward, as if always prepared to follow a sound, and her attention moves constantly around a room, checking windows, rafters, doorways, and the hands of everyone present before settling on their faces. Her travel-worn green cloak is stitched with dried leaves, seed packets, and tiny bone charms. A polished wooden staff, capped with a brass cup for collecting rainwater, serves as both walking stick and druidic focus.
Mannerisms
When waiting, Cy leans forward and balances on the balls of her feet, her tail making slow, deliberate adjustments behind her. She pauses before answering questions, often glancing toward the nearest plant, open flame, or source of running water as though consulting it. When excited, she taps the butt of her staff three times and begins speaking in precise, rapid observations.
Personality
Cy is observant, inquisitive, and quietly compassionate. She prefers listening to speaking, but once a subject catches her interest, her questions become rapid and exacting. She has a dry sense of humor and an instinctive habit of naming every plant, bird, and unusual mushroom she encounters. Though comfortable alone, she is fascinated by people and often studies social customs as if they were a new ecosystem.
Ideals
Understanding. Every living thing is part of a larger pattern. Knowledge is sacred when it is used to preserve life rather than control it.
Bonds
The forest spring that revealed her vision must be protected, even if doing so costs her safety or reputation. She also carries a small woven bracelet made by her former caravan and hopes to one day return it to them with proof that she found a purpose worth leaving home for.
Flaws
Cy treats uncertainty as a personal failure and can become so absorbed in gathering information that she neglects immediate danger. She is also deeply suspicious of anyone who destroys something without first learning what it does, including allies who act quickly for good reasons.
Quirks
Background
Cy was born among a traveling tabaxi caravan that measured its journeys by birdsong, weather, and the ripening of wild fruit rather than by roads. Her unusually sharp memory made her the caravan's keeper of routes and remedies, but she became fascinated by the patterns beneath ordinary things. She copied beetle trails, catalogued the flowering times of every plant they passed, and filled scraps of cloth with observations about animal behavior. When a fever swept through the caravan, Cy stayed behind in a remote woodland shrine to care for the sick, learning from an elderly hermit who taught her that nature was not a collection of resources, but a conversation that never stopped. Years of solitude changed Cy from an eager collector of facts into a patient listener. In the deepest winter of her hermitage, she discovered a ring of trees growing in the shape of a perfect spiral around a spring that flowed uphill. Within the spring's reflection, she saw brief images of a distant settlement where the land was being poisoned by something buried beneath it. She does not know whether the vision was prophecy, memory, or a warning from the forest itself, but she has left her refuge to investigate. Cy travels as a healer, natural philosopher, and reluctant adventurer, determined to understand the danger before it spreads, while secretly hoping the journey will lead her back to the caravan she abandoned.
