Appearance
Olvarnis Draenil is a slender, well-toned wood elf with black hair and unsettling gold eyes. He keeps his hood up whenever possible, wrapped in a dark green cloak embroidered with subtle wood elf patterns of stealth and protection, fastened by a black Nightweavers brooch at the chest. His fitted leather armor blends dark greens and black, paired with carved archer's vambraces, worn black boots, twin sleek short swords in dark scabbards, a gold-patterned quiver at his left side, and a dark nightwood longbow with silver-glinting string. He looks like a shadow given purpose, elegant, alert, and hard to read.
Mannerisms
He rarely stands still for long, always shifting his weight as if ready to melt into cover. When amused, he lets out a soft breath through his nose instead of laughing, and when annoyed he tilts his head slightly, as though appraising a target. He speaks in low, measured tones, but his delivery can turn dry and teasing without warning.
Personality
Olvarnis is sharp-witted, self-possessed, and only loosely impressed by social rules. He enjoys testing limits, especially when he suspects someone is being overly serious or pompous, and he has a habit of turning tension into gallows humor. Beneath the mischief is a disciplined scout who takes his responsibilities seriously, though he prefers to arrive at the correct result by his own methods rather than anyone else's.
Ideals
Freedom should be earned, defended, and used wisely. Olvarnis believes rules are tools, not chains, and that loyalty matters more than legality when the two conflict. He values competence, discretion, and the right of the High Forest to remain untouched by those who would exploit it.
Bonds
He loves his family fiercely, even when duty keeps him far away from them. The Nightweavers' emblem is more than a symbol to him, it is a promise that he will return with useful knowledge and with his honor intact. He is also deeply tied to the High Forest itself, and any threat that creeps toward it becomes, in his mind, a personal enemy.
Flaws
He cannot always resist mocking authority, especially when he thinks rules are inefficient or foolish. His humor can arrive at the worst possible moment, and he sometimes treats danger like a game of angles and timing until someone gets truly hurt. He also trusts his own evasiveness a little too much, and when cornered by emotion or scrutiny, he may vanish into silence instead of admitting what he feels.
Quirks
Background
Olvarnis Draenil was born within the hidden discipline of the Nightweavers, a secretive sect of spies and hunters working from the fringes of the Wood Elf Kingdom in the High Forest. From childhood he was taught to move silently, read a room before stepping into it, gather secrets without being seen, and strike only when distance or ambush gave the edge. His parents were not cold, only exacting, and their home was one of guarded affection, precise routines, and lessons that could turn lethal in the wrong hands. He learned early that a mistake could be corrected, but a mistake that was unseen was often the best kind.
