Appearance
Lethuna is a tall high elf with golden skin, long ash-blond hair, and sharply pointed ears adorned with small iron rings. She wears fitted black leather armor beneath a weathered dark cloak, with a heavy cleaver at her hip and a broad shield painted in the faded colors of the Inderfrey resistance. Her voice begins with a quiet intake of breath and a measured pause, as though every sentence must pass judgment before leaving her mouth. When she laughs, which is rare, her pointed teeth show prominently, and she eats with deliberate, almost ceremonial bites. Her expression is controlled, but her jaw tightens whenever the Cult of the Jaw is mentioned.
Mannerisms
Before speaking, Lethuna pauses and draws a controlled breath through her nose. She cleans her cleaver after every battle, even when it is already spotless. During arguments, she touches two fingers to her jaw and silently counts to three before answering. She eats slowly and precisely, arranging food by texture before taking the first bite.
Personality
Lethuna is composed, observant, and unsettlingly patient. She listens as if weighing each word for hidden doctrine. She has a dry, understated sense of humor and a deep respect for people who admit uncertainty. Although she appears severe, she quietly performs small acts of care, repairing straps, leaving food near a sentry's bedroll, or memorizing the names of the dead.
Ideals
Truth is more valuable than faith. No doctrine, leader, or cause deserves obedience after it demands that the innocent be treated as tools.
Bonds
The Inderfrey resistance gave Lethuna a second life, and she will defend its people even when its leaders make mistakes. She secretly protects the surviving prisoners she helped free, sending them money and coded letters. She also carries a fragment of the cult's broken altar, not as a holy symbol, but as evidence of what must never be rebuilt.
Flaws
Lethuna cannot easily distinguish healthy compromise from the first step toward tyranny. She distrusts charismatic leaders, including those on her own side, and often withholds vital information until she has tested someone's loyalty. When frightened, she becomes colder and more doctrinaire, sounding disturbingly like the priest she used to be.
Quirks
Background
Lethuna Pyndsil was raised among the high elven custodians of an ancient sect devoted to the Jaw, a secretive cult that taught discipline through silence, obedience, and the reduction of all human desire to hunger. Her keen intellect made her an exceptional acolyte and later a trusted enforcer. She learned to read old liturgies, identify heretics, and wield a cleaver as both sacramental tool and battlefield weapon. For decades, she believed the cult's cruelty was necessary, a harsh remedy for a disordered world. Her faith broke when she discovered that the cult's inner circle was feeding prisoners to a living relic beneath their temple, claiming the sacrifice would grant prophetic wisdom. Lethuna did not repent dramatically. She simply stopped obeying. She stole the relic records, freed several captives, and disappeared into the frontier. There she joined the Inderfrey resistance, bringing with her an encyclopedic knowledge of the cult's rites, supply routes, symbols, and command structure. Now she fights with the same methodical precision she once used in service to the Jaw, determined to dismantle the institution without pretending that her own hands are clean.
