Appearance
Barnacle is a small, sun-baked goblin with leathery green skin and a series of white salt-crusted scars across his face. He wears a heavy, double-breasted navy officer's coat that is far too large, causing the sleeves to be rolled up multiple times. Around his neck hangs a tarnished silver sextant and a vial of seawater. His eyes are a striking, pale milky-blue, often darting around as if watching invisible spirits in the air.
Mannerisms
Frequently licks his finger and holds it up to check the wind. Mumbles to his dead crewmates when he thinks no one is listening.
Personality
Barnacle is a jittery soul who speaks in complex naval metaphors and often refers to himself in the third person as the Navigator. He has a chronic habit of checking the wind direction even when indoors. He is fiercely protective of his spellbook, treating it with more affection than most living beings.
Ideals
The sea is the only true freedom, and one day I will return to its chaotic embrace.
Bonds
My crew is waiting for me in the deep, and I will find the magic to bring them back or join them.
Flaws
I am absolutely terrified of deep water and will not step onto a boat unless I am heavily bribed or unconscious.

Background
Barnaby Glint was never a typical goblin. While his kin were content raiding caravans in the hills, Barnaby was obsessed with the distant horizon. He stole a tattered spellbook from a beach wreck and taught himself the art of divination, convinced the stars were literal maps to infinite treasure. He eventually became the lead navigator for the Salty Scourge, a pirate junker crewed by a group of rowdy goblins who managed to survive three years as the terror of the Sapphire Coast. Disaster struck during a massive typhoon that locals call the Maw of the Storm. A rogue wave snapped the Scourge in half like a twig. Barnaby watched his crew vanish into the dark water while he was thrown onto a sandbar, saved only by his floating trunk of scrolls. He was the only survivor. He now wanders the dry lands, using his magic to earn enough coin to commission a new vessel, though the simple sound of a rainstorm is often enough to send him into a shivering fit of terror.
