Appearance
Seshat Osundé is a tall, spare aasimar woman with warm brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and faintly luminous silver markings at her temples that resemble delicate script. She keeps her clothing, prayer cords, and weapons meticulously arranged, but her hands are permanently stained with blue-black ink from years of copying sacred texts. Within a minute of meeting her, people notice that she rarely looks at faces. Her attention moves instead to doorways, windows, weapons, and the hands of everyone in the room. She carries herself like someone expecting danger, despite her soft voice and deliberate courtesy.
Mannerisms
She straightens nearby objects without seeming to notice she is doing it. Before entering a room, she quietly counts the exits. When angry, she recites a burial prayer in an increasingly calm voice, then becomes frighteningly still.
Personality
Seshat is soft-spoken, observant, and unfailingly polite until she sees someone abusing power. She listens more than she speaks, remembers names after hearing them once, and treats small acts of care as sacred duties. Her courage is real but awkward, built from obligation rather than confidence. She is most comfortable beside a fire, copying text while someone else keeps watch.
Ideals
Every life deserves to be remembered. Strength is not proof of worth, but it is a responsibility when others cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
The burned temple archive must be rebuilt, and every recoverable name must be restored to its proper page. She also carries the cracked brass lamp that once hung over the temple's entrance.
Flaws
She assumes every institution is one betrayal away from collapse, and she becomes controlling when others handle records, maps, or sacred objects. Her low physical confidence makes her overcompensate with reckless challenges, especially when someone mocks her size or questions her courage.
Quirks
Background
Seshat was born beneath an eclipse in a river town where her mother served as a keeper of funerary lamps. From infancy, pale light gathered around her fingers whenever she cried, and the temple priests declared the sign a blessing. They raised her among incense smoke, funeral songs, and shelves of copied prayers. Seshat learned to read before she learned to fight, and she became exceptionally skilled at preserving the names of the dead. Her faith taught that every soul deserved a witness, especially those abandoned by history. Her life changed when raiders burned the temple archives. Seshat survived by hiding beneath a collapsed writing table, listening as sacred books and burial records turned to ash above her. When she emerged, she found that the temple guards had fled and the congregation was trapped inside. She broke open the blocked doors with a ceremonial axe, carrying survivors through the smoke one by one. The act awakened something fierce in her celestial blood. Since then, she has trained as a barbarian, treating rage not as mindless fury but as the terrible force that rises when the helpless are made invisible. She now travels to recover lost names, defend sanctuaries, and learn whether the light within her is truly divine or merely another kind of fire.
