Appearance
Riola Fiala is an extraordinarily small human boy, only 2 feet tall, with brown skin, luminous amber eyes, and short, unruly black hair that seems permanently tousled by woodland breezes. He has a cute, delicate face and a compact, surprisingly sturdy build. He wears only a tiny leaf jockstrap, as requested, along with a wooden holy symbol of a crescent moon, a leather satchel, and a plain ring of wishes. His movements are quick and animal-like, with sudden crouches, curious head tilts, and bursts of restless energy followed by unnervingly still observation.
Mannerisms
Riola often crouches instead of standing, tilts his head when listening, and makes tiny approving clicks at friendly animals. When embarrassed, he hides behind his shield or peeks out from behind someone's ankle. When casting, he whispers the spell's final syllable as if telling a secret to a seed.
Personality
Riola is kind, shy, and easily flustered, especially around anyone who compliments him. He is adorably confident about animals and plants but becomes tongue-tied around people he finds attractive. Beneath his gentle manner is a mischievous, freedom-loving spirit. He enjoys harmless pranks, secret gardens, rooftop sunsets, and making powerful people uncomfortable by asking them simple questions.
Ideals
Freedom belongs to every living thing. No law, throne, temple, or parent should own a person, an animal, or a patch of growing earth.
Bonds
The abandoned children, rooftop animals, and hidden green places of the city are Riola's family. He will cross kingdoms to protect them. He is also bound to the ancient ring of wishes, which he believes was entrusted to him by the forest itself, though he does not understand why its magic never seems to run out.
Flaws
Riola is terrified of being forgotten or left behind, so he sometimes grants reckless wishes, accepts dangerous bargains, or follows charming strangers simply because they show him affection. He is also so shy about his immense power that he may let a crisis grow worse rather than admit he does not understand what is happening.
Quirks
Background
Riola Fiala was born in a city alley during a summer storm and grew up among chimney swifts, stray cats, market vendors, and children who had no one else to protect them. His unusual size made him easy to overlook, but his amber eyes missed very little. He learned to sleep in abandoned gardens, steal fruit without damaging the trees, and read the moods of animals long before he could read written words. A kindly old hedge druid discovered him hiding inside a hollow statue and recognized that Riola could hear the quiet language of growing things. Under that druid's guidance, he learned to shape his fear into curiosity and his loneliness into a bond with the living world.
