Alaric is a lean human with ink-stained fingers and sharp, calculating eyes. He wears practical leather armor over a scholar's tunic. He carries a longbow with precision and has several journals tucked into waterproof pouches at his belt.

He is methodical and academic. Alaric approaches the wilderness as a giant, living library. He is more likely to study a beast than to fear it. He speaks with clarity and dislikes embellishment or tall tales.

Born in the Great Library's shadow, Alaric spent his youth transcribing the messy notes of explorers. He realized that much of the world's knowledge of the natural world was based on hearsay rather than observation. Determined to fix this, he took his quill and ink into the wild. He learned to track not for the hunt, but for the truth. He joined the wardens of the borderlands to gain access to the most dangerous territories. His goal is to write the definitive Encyclopedia of the Wilds, a task that requires him to survive long enough to witness things no scribe has ever seen. Every monster encountered is another entry in his growing manuscript.
