Appearance
A towering male goliath with slate-gray skin, white geometric birthmarks, and a shaved head marked by a single black braid. His pale eyes are cold and watchful. He wears polished chain mail beneath a severe black-and-gold surcoat bearing the seal of Goldhaven, and carries a broad longsword and heavy shield. His posture is rigid, his expression controlled, and his presence is more judicial than heroic.
Mannerisms
Korran speaks in measured commands, rarely using contractions. He stands perfectly still while others talk and slowly turns his shield toward anyone who raises their voice. Before delivering a judgment, he taps two fingers against the holy symbol at his throat.
Personality
Controlled, severe, and intensely observant. Korran is patient with procedure but impatient with excuses. He shows respect to disciplined opponents, protects subordinates who follow orders, and treats public fear as a useful tool of governance. Beneath his rigid authority is a deep fear that, without rules, he would once again be helpless and alone.
Ideals
Order. Mercy without structure is merely permission for the strong to prey upon the weak. A society survives when every person knows the law and fears its consequences.
Bonds
Goldhaven is my charge, and its walls, laws, and ruling council must endure even if its people resent the measures required to protect them.
Flaws
I mistake obedience for virtue and believe that anyone who resists lawful authority must secretly desire chaos. I am incapable of admitting uncertainty in front of subordinates, and I punish disrespect more harshly than genuine danger.

Background
Korran Vhal was born among a goliath clan that measured worth through endurance, discipline, and contribution to the group. When a winter expedition left him injured and separated from his people, he was found by priests traveling toward Goldhaven. The priests offered him shelter, food, and a strict daily regimen of prayer and labor. Korran came to believe that civilization was simply another form of survival, one that required laws, ranks, and punishments to prevent the weak from endangering everyone else. He entered the temple as an acolyte, mastering doctrine less as a source of compassion than as a framework for obedience. After joining the city watch, Korran distinguished himself by ending riots, exposing corrupt officers, and breaking criminal organizations through relentless investigation. His rise to commander was swift, and Goldhaven now knows him as a stern guardian who keeps the streets quiet at any cost. He considers his oath a sacred mandate to impose order, and his devotion to law has curdled into a willingness to use fear, coercion, and exemplary violence. Korran does not believe himself cruel. He believes cruelty is allowing disorder to continue when a firm hand could end it.
