Appearance
Thalindra is a tall, broad-shouldered half-elf woman with warm bronze skin, long black hair streaked with silver, and pointed ears adorned with small copper prayer rings. Her green eyes are sharp and observant, and a faint scar crosses her left eyebrow from a childhood accident in a ruined library. She wears well-maintained scale mail beneath blue-gray clerical robes, carries a polished wooden shield marked with a silver sunburst, and keeps a heavy mace at her side.
Mannerisms
Thalindra taps two fingers against her holy symbol whenever she is thinking, speaks in precise measured sentences, and pauses to examine inscriptions before entering unfamiliar rooms. When nervous, she quietly recites catalog numbers from memory.
Personality
Thalindra is patient with sincere questions, merciless toward deliberate ignorance, and quietly protective of anyone who is trying to learn. She prefers preparation to improvisation, but when people are in danger she acts decisively and trusts her faith to guide the details.
Ideals
Knowledge should serve the living. Ancient wisdom has value only when it is used to heal, protect, and guide people in the present.
Bonds
The temple archive that raised her is her true home, and she will risk much to protect its people and its irreplaceable records. She is also bound to the memory of her missing mentor, whose unfinished research may reveal a threat that others have overlooked.
Flaws
Thalindra cannot resist correcting an inaccurate quotation, even when doing so is dangerous or socially foolish. She is also secretive about her doubts, fearing that admitting uncertainty will cause others to lose faith in her.
Quirks
Background
Thalindra was raised between two worlds. Her human mother served as a keeper of records in a remote temple, while her elven father traveled from city to city repairing damaged manuscripts and translating forgotten texts. From them, Thalindra learned that knowledge could preserve a life just as surely as a healing prayer, and that history was not merely a record of the dead, but a warning offered to the living. She spent her youth copying sacred texts, studying ancient languages, and asking questions that made older priests sigh with exasperation. Her path toward clerical service began when a plague swept through her hometown. The temple archives contained references to an old healing rite, but the relevant pages had been scattered among damaged volumes. Thalindra found the ritual, helped the priests restore it, and witnessed firsthand how scholarship and faith could work together. She eventually took vows to serve a deity of knowledge, healing, or the sun, depending on the traditions of the temple that accepts her. Now she travels as a wandering researcher and healer, searching for lost wisdom before it can be destroyed, twisted, or forgotten. She is especially determined to locate the missing final journal of her former mentor, whose disappearance may be connected to a dangerous text hidden somewhere in the world.
“She spent her youth copying sacred texts, studying ancient languages, and asking questions that made older priests sigh with exasperation.”
