Appearance
Oakhaven is an immense firbolg standing over eight feet tall, with thick, bark-like skin of a muted sea-foam color. His hair is a wild tangle of dark seaweed and hemp rope, tied back with a piece of rusted chain. He wears a heavy, salt-encrusted coat and leather trousers that have been mended with fishing net. His eyes are a striking, storm-cloud gray, and he often smells of old oak wood and brine.
Mannerisms
He has a habit of tapping a rhythmic beat on his chest or his weapon whenever he is waiting for someone to speak.
Personality
Unlike most of his secluded kin, Oakhaven is boisterous and finds deep joy in the rhythmic chaos of a naval raid. He speaks to his ship as if it were a sentient forest spirit and often treats the crew of The Drowned Anchor like a flock of flighty birds that need his protection. He is surprisingly polite for a pirate, often bowing before he engages in a duel.
Ideals
Harmony. The rhythm of the tide is the music of the world, and we must all find our place in the song.
Bonds
The ship of The Drowned Anchor is my forest now, and I will see no harm come to its wooden heart.
Flaws
I am prone to fits of melancholic singing during storms, often ignoring the safety of the rigging to finish a verse.
Quirks
Background
Oakhaven once served as a guardian of the Verdant Coast, watching over the ancient mangroves that protected the land from the sea. When the pirate crew known as The Drowned Anchor raided the groves for their iron-hard timber, Oakhaven fought with such grace and ferocity that the Captain offered him a place among them instead of a shallow grave. To the Firbolg's surprise, the ocean's tides felt remarkably similar to the cycles of the forest, just faster and louder. He earned the name Hull-Breaker after using his massive strength and a few rhythmic chants to hold a failing bulkhead together during a maelstrom. Now he sails with the crew, providing the rhythm for the rowing and the edge for the boarding parties. He sees the ship not as a vehicle, but as a living creature made of wood that has simply forgotten its roots in exchange for the freedom of the foam. He spends his nights carving tiny wooden talismans for the younger crew members, promising them that the wood will remember their names even if the sea swallows them.
