Appearance
Kintek is a broad-shouldered Warforged man with dark, burnished wood-toned plating, warm brass joints, and narrow amber lenses set beneath a strong brow ridge. His face is deliberately expressive, with a sculpted nose and cheek structure inspired by African American features. Thin geometric etchings run from his temples to his jaw like pathways on a city map. He wears patched street clothes beneath a weathered leather harness, with a red scarf tied at his throat and a small metal token hanging from one wrist.
Mannerisms
Kintek constantly measures distances with his eyes, tilting his head toward doorways, windows, and empty patches of air. He pauses for one precise click before answering difficult questions, as though aligning internal gears.
Personality
Highly attentive and quietly intelligent, Kintek notices small changes in posture, tone, and surroundings before most people do. He adapts quickly when plans fail, treating confusion as another kind of terrain. He is protective without being sentimental, observant without being timid, and unexpectedly playful with people who earn his trust.
Ideals
Freedom. No wall, chain, law, or battlefield order should decide where a person is allowed to go. If there is no path forward, I will make one.
Bonds
The street children who sheltered me are my family. I will return to them with enough coin, protection, and influence that none of them has to sleep beneath a bridge again.
Flaws
I assume every offer of help has a hidden price, and I sometimes ruin genuine alliances by testing people until they fail.
Quirks
Background
Kintek was activated in the lower foundries of a crowded industrial district, where unfinished Warforged were stored beside broken carts, discarded tools, and crates marked for distant battlefields. He was never assigned to a regiment. Instead, he slipped through a loading gate during a night of heavy rain and learned the city from its underside. Alleys became roads, rooftops became bridges, and the gaps between closing doors became lessons in timing. Other street children taught him how to sleep without being noticed, how to read a guard's posture, and how to tell whether a stranger's kindness was real. In return, Kintek became their lookout, shield, and quiet source of impossible escapes. His first rift appeared while he was cornered in a collapsed tenement with three younger children behind him. Kintek reached for a door that was not there, and space folded like a sheet of metal. He stepped through and emerged on the opposite roof, carrying one child under each arm while the third clung to his back. Since then, he has trained his strange spatial instincts into deliberate martial techniques. He does not understand whether the rifts come from his construction, an experimental core, or something that noticed him from the far side of reality. He only knows that movement is freedom, and that no one should be trapped simply because the obvious path has been taken away.
