Appearance
Aurelia is a striking drow woman with obsidian skin, waist-length silver hair, and vivid violet eyes that seem to evaluate every face in the room. Her beauty is carefully cultivated rather than soft, enhanced by aristocratic posture, crimson lacquered nails, and spider-silk accents worked into her dark court attire. Beneath her noble garments she wears fitted chain mail, and at her hip hangs an elegant curved sabre-like scimitar bearing the Malice crest.
Mannerisms
Aurelia pauses before answering important questions, as though weighing the speaker's soul. She maintains immaculate posture, touches her signet ring when invoking House Malice, and smiles politely whenever someone makes a claim she intends to disprove.
Personality
Aurelia is poised, incisive, and unnervingly gracious. She treats every conversation as an examination, offering sincere courtesy while quietly cataloging contradictions, emotional tells, and hidden motives. She enjoys beautiful things, precise language, and opponents who can force her to revise a conclusion. Though she projects absolute confidence, she is secretly fascinated by people who choose compassion over obedience.
Ideals
Truth is a weapon. False doctrine, corrupt authority, and comforting lies must be cut away before they poison the realm.
Bonds
House Malice is both Aurelia's inheritance and her sentence. She will protect its name from enemies, but she will destroy any member who truly betrays it. She also carries the black iron prayer spider given to her by the priestess who declared her Lolth's miracle, and she intends to learn whether the relic is a blessing, a leash, or a message.
Flaws
Aurelia cannot resist exposing hypocrisy, even when silence would be wiser. She is proud of her insight and assumes that anyone who dislikes her scrutiny has something to hide. Deep beneath her confidence lies a terror of being ordinary, or worse, of discovering that Lolth's miracle was merely a political fiction.
Quirks
Background
Aurelia Malice was born beneath a rare conjunction of red stars, the first child of House Malice in three generations and the only infant in living memory to survive the sacred venom rite performed for Lolth. The priestesses declared her a miracle, but they disagreed about what kind. Some saw a favored daughter destined to restore the house, while others whispered that Lolth had placed a blade within the family, waiting for the right hand to draw it. Aurelia was raised accordingly, surrounded by tutors, assassins, genealogists, and theologians who taught her that noble blood was not a privilege, but evidence of divine scrutiny. Her education prepared her for courtly command, yet Aurelia found her true calling in investigation. She learned to read hesitation as easily as ink, to trace forbidden doctrines through merchant ledgers, and to turn a sabre duel into an interrogation conducted at sword point. When a beloved household advisor was exposed as the leader of a secretive heretical circle, Aurelia personally arrested him. The discovery that his treason had been protected by members of her own family shattered her faith in noble certainty. Now she travels as an inquisitor of House Malice, hunting heresy wherever it hides, including within the halls of her own bloodline. She believes every revelation brings her closer to understanding why Lolth chose her, and fears the answer may be that she was never meant to inherit, only to purge.
