Appearance
Pierre is a weathered human man with sun-browned skin, thick dark hair streaked with silver, and a narrow beard threaded with small wooden beads. His green-brown eyes are alert and restless, and his hands are stained with herbs, ash, and soil. He wears worn leather armor beneath a moss-colored cloak, carries a wooden shield painted with a spiral leaf, and keeps a scimitar at his hip. A bundle of feathers, seed pods, and bones hangs from his belt.
Mannerisms
Pierre pauses before answering questions, as if waiting for an unseen animal to finish speaking. He smells unfamiliar objects, mutters observations about the weather under his breath, and addresses plants as though they are old acquaintances. When annoyed, he smiles warmly and begins sharpening his scimitar.
Personality
Pierre is charming, unpredictable, and intensely curious. He enjoys meeting strangers but dislikes being pinned down by promises, schedules, or social expectations. Beneath his irreverent humor is a sharp observer who notices small changes in weather, animal behavior, and people's voices. He can be compassionate and patient with the sick, but he has no sympathy for cruelty disguised as tradition.
Ideals
Freedom. No king, temple, or druid circle owns the land. Every living thing deserves the chance to change, grow, or leave its old shape behind.
Bonds
The forest spring that saved Pierre's village is dying, and he will risk almost anything to protect it. He also feels responsible for the people he healed, even though he claims to prefer the company of birds and ghosts.
Flaws
Pierre becomes reckless when someone tells him that something cannot be done. He hoards secrets, distrusts organized authority, and sometimes treats people as temporary problems in the same way he treats weeds in a garden.
Quirks
Background
Pierre was born in a remote human settlement built along the edge of an ancient forest. He grew up learning to mend fences, trap small game, and charm suspicious neighbors with an easy smile. His life changed when a wasting sickness swept through the village. While searching for a cure, Pierre followed a white stag into forbidden woodland and found a spring beneath the roots of a fallen tree. The water healed the sick, but it also showed him visions of rivers running backward, trees walking beneath moonlight, and a black scar spreading beneath the earth. After the sickness passed, Pierre withdrew from society and lived alone in a ruined watchtower deep in the forest. There, an elderly druid taught him the Druidic tongue and the discipline of listening to the land before acting. Pierre became a hermit, healer, herbalist, and occasional trespasser, studying the strange scar he had seen in his vision. He eventually learned that it was not a prophecy of one fixed future, but a warning that the natural world was being pushed toward a violent correction. Pierre now travels because the forest has begun sending him increasingly impatient signs. He is determined to help nature survive, though he has little patience for laws, polite institutions, or anyone who insists that the old ways must remain unchanged.
