Appearance
Erindell is a tall, striking half-elf with warm bronze skin, long silver-brown hair, and keen amber eyes that seem to study every detail in the room. Her pointed ears are decorated with tiny brass charms engraved with draconic runes. She wears finely made noble clothing that has been repeatedly altered for travel, with the hems reinforced by mismatched thread and the sleeves slightly too long. Her deep blue wizard's robe is the one item she carefully maintains, though its inner lining is covered in handwritten notes. She moves with a cautious, deliberate gait because of her poor balance and low dexterity, but becomes suddenly animated whenever magic, dragons, or an unfamiliar book captures her attention. A young dragon named Fury often curls around her shoulders or hides in her satchel when not causing trouble.
Mannerisms
Erindell tilts her head and murmurs observations under her breath whenever she encounters something unfamiliar. She frequently touches the brass charms on her ears while thinking, and she addresses Fury in a formal, patient tone even when the dragon is clearly misbehaving.
Personality
Erindell is intensely curious, scholarly, and unusually comfortable around creatures that most people consider terrifying. She treats every conversation as a chance to learn something new, asking precise questions with complete sincerity. Her noble upbringing gives her polished manners and confidence in formal settings, but years among dragons have made her social instincts eccentric. She is generous with knowledge, protective of the powerless, and delighted by discoveries that would make a more cautious person turn around.
Ideals
Knowledge should be shared and used to protect those who cannot protect themselves. A secret that can save a life is not truly mine to keep.
Bonds
Fury is family, and Erindell will risk almost anything to keep her dragon companion safe. She is also bound to her family's ancient library, especially a sealed collection of draconic texts that vanished after a mysterious fire.
Flaws
Erindell cannot resist investigating a mystery, even when discretion would be wiser. She is also too willing to assume that a dangerous creature can be reasoned with, and she becomes defensive when anyone suggests that Fury is merely a pet.
Quirks
Background
Erindell was born into a respected half-elven noble house whose library was older than the family title. While other heirs learned etiquette, estate law, and the proper use of a dueling rapier, Erindell spent her childhood reading forbidden bestiaries and copying fragments of draconic script. Her curiosity eventually brought her into the company of ancient wyrms, scholarly dragons, and wandering dragon sages. Rather than fearing their immense power, she approached them with questions, patience, and an almost alarming willingness to listen. The dragons recognized in her a rare combination of humility and persistence, and several allowed her to study their histories and magical traditions. During one expedition to a ruined observatory, Erindell discovered a small dragon named Fury guarding a nest of scorched books. Fury was suspicious, possessive, and remarkably clever, but Erindell won the creature's trust by rescuing the books instead of claiming the treasure hidden beneath them. Fury has since followed her as an adopted companion, though whether Fury considers Erindell a guardian, servant, or favorite source of snacks remains uncertain. Erindell now travels as a wizard, seeking lost lore, forgotten draconic magic, and opportunities to prove that knowledge is best used to protect the vulnerable rather than elevate the powerful.
