The target can make a Dexterity saving throw against Xel's ki save DC to resist being knocked prone or pushed.
- Ki-Empowered StrikesLevel 6
Xel's unarmed strikes count as magical for overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

Appearance
Xel is a broad-shelled tortle with deep olive-green skin, amber eyes, and a shell patterned like weathered river stone. Their monk's robes are carefully patched in several colors, hemmed unevenly to accommodate their shell and powerful legs. A faded blue sash is the one item they maintain with almost ceremonial care, holding prayer beads, a small wooden flute, and a neatly folded list of students they have taught. Xel stands very still when listening, occupying more space than they realize, then moves with startling precision when action is required.
Mannerisms
Xel pauses for several heartbeats before answering important questions, often resting both hands atop their quarterstaff. When teaching, they tap a rhythm on their shell and quietly count steps under their breath. They address reckless strangers as if they were promising students who have merely forgotten their lessons.
Personality
Xel is patient, observant, and quietly authoritative. They prefer teaching a lesson to winning an argument, and they show affection by correcting posture, breathing, and footwork. Though gentle with the frightened and inexperienced, Xel becomes firm and immovable when someone threatens a community or exploits a student.
Ideals
Order. Peace is not the absence of conflict. It is the result of disciplined people choosing responsibility over impulse.
Bonds
Xel is bound to the many students they have taught across the coastlands. Whenever one of those students calls for aid, Xel feels honor-bound to answer, even when the request is inconvenient or dangerous.
Flaws
Xel can be maddeningly certain that patience will solve problems that genuinely require swift action. They judge loudness, wastefulness, and uncontrolled emotion harshly, and their age has made them slow to admit when a younger person has found a better way.
Quirks
Background
Xel was already old when most of the people who taught them had become names in family stories. Their first lessons were not in combat, but in patience. They learned to play a simple wooden flute, recite histories, and settle arguments between young tortles who believed every disagreement required a race or a wrestling match. Over the decades, Xel became a traveling instructor, combining demonstrations of disciplined movement with stories about restraint, responsibility, and the cost of allowing fear to govern a community.
“Their first lessons were not in combat, but in patience.”
