Appearance
Khajun is a lean, long-limbed tabaxi male with tawny-gold fur marked by dark rosettes, a black-tipped tail, and pale green eyes that rarely stop moving. His ears are notched from old hunts, and a narrow scar crosses the bridge of his muzzle. He wears studded leather beneath a weather-stained green cloak, with a longbow across his back, a scimitar at his hip, and a calligrapher’s case secured beside his bedroll.
Mannerisms
Khajun pauses before answering questions, as if arranging facts on invisible shelves. His tail slowly coils around his ankle when he is thinking, and his ears angle toward whoever is speaking even when his eyes remain fixed on something else.
Personality
Khajun is precise, observant, and restrained. He prefers written evidence to confident claims and quietly notices details that others overlook. Though he rarely laughs, he appreciates dry humor and has a soft spot for anyone who shows genuine curiosity. In unfamiliar places, he immediately identifies exits, high ground, and the nearest source of water.
Ideals
Order. Knowledge is only useful when it is preserved, verified, and placed in the hands of those disciplined enough to use it responsibly.
Bonds
The monastery that educated Khajun entrusted him with its oldest surviving field journal. He will risk his life to recover the missing pages and protect the archivists who gave him a place in the world.
Flaws
Khajun treats uncertainty as a personal failure and can become cold or obstructive when others act on instinct. He is also tempted by forbidden knowledge, especially when a dangerous secret seems close enough to touch.
Quirks
Background
Khajun was raised among a wandering tabaxi clan that traded rare maps, recovered relics, and carefully remembered stories between distant settlements. His curiosity was disciplined rather than whimsical. Every strange ruin was cataloged, every unfamiliar footprint compared with an old sketch, and every rumor tested against what the clan already knew. His unusual patience drew the attention of a secluded monastery, whose archivists offered him access to their library in exchange for years of copying manuscripts, repairing field journals, and guiding scholars through dangerous country. While serving the monastery, Khajun discovered that several historical accounts described the same remote valley, though each account ended with the expedition vanishing. He became convinced that the records concealed a deliberate pattern, perhaps a forgotten threat or a buried safeguard. To investigate, he trained as a ranger, combining wilderness craft with the methods of a scholar. He now travels with a copied history book, a carefully maintained bow, and strict instructions from the monastery to recover evidence before drawing conclusions. Khajun considers every expedition a duty to knowledge, and every monster a problem that should be understood before it is destroyed.
