Appearance
A broad-shouldered tiefling with deep umber-red skin, swept-back black horns, and thick dark hair usually tied with a strip of faded blue cloth. His amber eyes are steady and observant. Years of farm work and travel have left his forearms sun-darkened and heavily corded, while his hands are rough, split at the knuckles, and permanently marked by calluses from plow handles, reins, and a smith's hammer. He wears well-maintained chain mail beneath a blue and ochre surcoat, and carries a round shield painted with a simple golden sheaf of wheat.
Mannerisms
Jadren taps two fingers against his shield rim when thinking. He checks door latches and wagon axles without realizing it, and when angered he becomes very polite, speaking with careful formality until the danger has passed.
Personality
Jadren is patient with frightened people, practical in a crisis, and more comfortable doing useful work than receiving praise. He has a dry sense of humor and treats promises as physical things that must be carried carefully. Though he can be warm and sociable around villagers, he grows guarded around nobles, magistrates, and anyone who speaks about justice without having suffered its absence.
Ideals
Dignity. No one should have to beg for the right to live safely, work honestly, or be treated as a person. Strength exists to make room for others, not to stand above them.
Bonds
The people of my home village trusted me when no one else would. I will return whenever they call, and I will never allow hunger or tyranny to make them kneel again.
Flaws
I cannot leave an insult unanswered when it is directed at the powerless, even when silence would be wiser. I also distrust wealthy officials so completely that I sometimes mistake caution for proof of guilt.

Jadren Khosar was raised in a farming village where tieflings were tolerated only so long as they were useful. He became useful early, repairing harnesses, settling disputes between neighboring families, and hauling grain when the river road flooded. When a corrupt reeve began confiscating winter stores, Jadren organized the villagers into a quiet resistance. He led them through the old irrigation tunnels, reclaimed the grain wagons, and faced the reeve publicly without drawing blood. The story spread farther than he expected, and the villagers began calling him their shield long before he owned one.
