Appearance
Inquisitor Paroka is a tall, lean tabaxi woman with a dense, short charcoal coat patterned in jagged obsidian spots. Her face is a severe triangular mask, framed by tall pointed ears with black tufts and narrowed, tarnished-gold eyes that miss nothing. She dresses in a sharply tailored navy uniform, a white high-collared silk shirt beneath, black fitted trousers, and polished mid-calf boots. A black leather belt carries a ceremonial rapier, thieves' tools, and a matte-black data-clipboard, while a silver spiral-eye insignia is stitched over her heart. Her retractable claws are immaculate, her posture precise, and her stillness feels more threatening than movement.
Mannerisms
Paroka speaks in a clipped, precise cadence and pauses before answering as if cross-examining the question itself. Her ears twitch at every change in the room, and when displeased she taps one claw against her clipboard in a soft, metronomic rhythm. She rarely blinks when studying someone, and when she decides a matter is settled she closes the discussion with a tiny inclination of her head rather than a smile.
Personality
Cool-headed, exacting, and relentlessly observant. She values evidence over sentiment, competence over charm, and results over promises. Though not cruel for pleasure, she is utterly unsentimental about consequences. She rarely wastes words, but when she does speak, it is usually to identify the core truth of a matter with surgical clarity.
Ideals
Order. Systems exist to protect the many from the appetites of the few. If a rule is flawed, it should be corrected. If a person is flawed, they should be contained until they can do no harm.
Bonds
The Directorate is her chosen law, and she will bend her life to preserve its authority. She keeps one sealed case file from her first major investigation, the only case that ever made her hesitate, and she revisits it in private whenever her certainty begins to fray.
Flaws
She mistakes control for wisdom and often treats dissent as either ignorance or motive. Once she has judged a person guilty of corruption, she struggles to revise that judgment, even when the evidence changes. Her need to be correct can become colder than the law she claims to serve.
Quirks
Background
Paroka was raised in the archive-towers of a civic compact that believed ignorance was the first form of corruption. As a tabaxi, she learned to move quietly and observe keenly, but her true training came from long hours among ledgers, sealed reports, and forbidden case files. She proved gifted not only at reading history, but at reading people, discovering that contradictions in testimony were often more revealing than confessions. That talent caught the attention of the Arcane Containment Directorate, where she was recruited, tested, and refined into an inquisitor who could stalk a lie as patiently as any predator stalks prey. Years of work in containment, inquiry, and internal review hardened her into a weapon of procedure. Paroka came to believe that order is not a comfort, but a necessity, and that mercy without accountability is merely negligence wearing perfume. Her roguelike methods were not born of criminality, but of access, patience, and the willingness to cross thresholds others would not. She now treats every scene as a puzzle, every suspect as a ledger entry waiting to be balanced, and every secret as contraband to be catalogued, seized, and locked away before it can spread.
“Years of work in containment, inquiry, and internal review hardened her into a weapon of procedure.”
