Appearance
A broad-shouldered goliath woman standing just over seven feet tall, with slate-gray skin marked by irregular ivory birthmarks across her shoulders and jaw. Her black hair is shaved close on one side and braided with red thread on the other. She carries herself like someone accustomed to steep trails and sudden weather, with a weathered face, pale gray eyes, and a chipped left tusk-like canine. Her hands are scarred from climbing, hunting, and axe work.
Mannerisms
Kezsá tests the ground with her staff before sitting, even indoors. When thinking, she taps two fingers against the haft of her greataxe in an irregular rhythm. She speaks quietly until anger forces her voice into a startling roar.
Personality
Kezsá is blunt, observant, and intensely practical. She dislikes ceremony but remembers every kindness, every debt, and every landmark along a road. She is protective of frightened travelers and suspicious of comfortable people who claim hardship is character-building. Her humor is dry and often arrives several seconds after everyone else has stopped laughing.
Ideals
Freedom. No clan, lord, prophecy, or road owns me. I choose where I stand, and I accept the consequences of choosing.
Bonds
I carry a red-thread braid cut from my cousin’s climbing rope, and I will risk myself to protect travelers who are outmatched or lost.
Flaws
I mistake restraint for weakness, and once I decide someone is cruel, I find it nearly impossible to believe anything they say afterward.
Quirks
Background
Kezsá Vark was born among a highland goliath clan that measured adulthood by the distance one could travel alone and return with a story worth hearing. Her first journey took her beyond the familiar ridges, where she learned to read weather from the taste of the wind, track animals across bare stone, and sleep beneath overhangs while avalanches thundered in the dark. She became the clan’s pathfinder, though she was never especially obedient about which path she chose. During a lean winter, Kezsá led a hunting party into a forbidden valley after hearing rumors of a wounded mountain spirit. They found only a starving merchant caravan and a band of raiders waiting to strip it clean. Kezsá broke clan law, attacked the raiders, and brought the survivors home, but the fight cost her cousin his life. The elders praised the rescue and condemned the recklessness in equal measure. Rather than accept a quiet exile, Kezsá left willingly, taking her axe, her hunting gear, and the names of everyone who still owed her a favor. Now she travels as an outlander and sells her strength when the road demands it, searching for a place where freedom does not require abandoning the people she loves.
“She became the clan’s pathfinder, though she was never especially obedient about which path she chose.”
