Wilfried is a stout halfling with perfectly groomed graying sideburns and a wardrobe of heavy silks reinforced by clockwork mechanisms. He stands with a posture that suggests he is constantly looking down his nose, despite his diminutive stature. His fingers are often stained with oil and soot, hidden beneath delicate lace gloves.

Wilfried believes that living creatures are simply flawed machines. He is cold, clinical, and demands absolute precision and loyalty from everyone in his presence. He finds the traditional halfling love of leisure to be a disgusting weakness and values productivity above all else.

Born into the noble house of Schlaufuß, Wilfried was never satisfied with simple inherited wealth. While his peers were hosting dinners and tending gardens, he was in the basement perfecting designs for mechanical servants that would never ask for a break or a wage. His family eventually distanced themselves from his more ruthless experiments, which they deemed unbefitting of their station. Wilfried took this as a personal insult to his genius. He realized that the only way to prove the superiority of his creations was to subject them to the ultimate test of combat. He left the family estate not as an outcast, but as a pioneer intending to build a new order where efficiency is the only law. He sees the world as a complex machine that has fallen into disrepair, and he fully intends to be the one to fix it, regardless of how many lives must be discarded in the process.
