Appearance
Malice is a tall, lithe drow woman with obsidian skin, long white hair braided with black silk, and vivid violet eyes that seem almost red in torchlight. Her left arm is deliberately bare from shoulder to fingertips, marked with thin ritual scars and black spider sigils. She wears fitted leather armor beneath layered crimson, purple, and charcoal robes, leaving the fabric loose enough to conceal blades and poison vials. Two curved scimitars hang at her waist, one polished like a mirror and the other darkened with alchemical residue. Her movements are graceful, economical, and disturbingly quiet.
Mannerisms
Malice rarely blinks during conversation. She tilts her head as though listening to distant chittering, touches two fingers to the scars on her exposed arm before drawing a weapon, and speaks of Lolth in intimate terms, as if describing a beloved parent rather than a distant deity.
Personality
Malice is soft-spoken, observant, and intensely composed. She treats every conversation as a contest of positioning, offering small courtesies to make others underestimate how closely she is studying them. She is sincerely compassionate toward spiders and toward those who accept a useful role without complaint. She respects discipline, but only when discipline produces results. Her devotion to Lolth is not theatrical. It is tender, possessive, and absolute.
Ideals
Purpose. A person is only as valuable as the will they serve. To be Lolth's instrument is freedom from the weakness of choosing for oneself.
Bonds
Lolth is the only mother Malice acknowledges. She will risk almost anything to complete a task that she believes came through the goddess, even when the command is ambiguous or cruel. She also keeps one black silk thread from House Travra hidden inside her left wrist wrapping, a reminder of the name she destroyed.
Flaws
Malice mistakes submission for devotion and often obeys cruel impulses because she fears that questioning them would mean Lolth has abandoned her. She cannot resist humiliating an enemy before killing them, and her need to make every victory a religious demonstration has endangered her more than once.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia Travra, the fourth daughter of a minor but ambitious house in Menzoberranzan. From infancy, she was shaped toward the priesthood of Lolth, taught that obedience was virtue and hesitation was treason. She learned the catechisms, the proper forms of ritual cruelty, and the intricate politics of drow matrons, but she never possessed the necessary hunger for rank. What she did possess was patience. She watched servants, rivals, and priestesses reveal themselves through tiny mistakes, and she learned that the most decisive strike was usually the one no one saw coming. During a nocturnal rite beneath the city, Aurelia was sent into a cavern to retrieve a living spider from an altar of black stone. Instead, she found the chamber filled with spiders, their bodies forming a living mantle around her. A priestess declared that Lolth had marked her as a blade, but the blessing felt less like elevation than erasure. Aurelia accepted the judgment completely. She abandoned her birth name, her house, and any claim to being more than an instrument. Now she calls herself Malice and follows the Way of the Black Widow, a cruel parody of surface samurai discipline built around concealed weapons, poisoned steel, feigned weakness, and sudden violence. She believes Lolth does not merely command her. Lolth loves her enough to make her useful.
