Appearance
Nexaroth is a tall, lean air genasi with pale blue-gray skin, silver-white hair that constantly drifts as if underwater, and eyes that glow with faint stormlight. Thin arcs of static crawl across his fingers when he is excited or angry. He wears layered black and cobalt robes reinforced with leather at the shoulders, a brass-bound spellbook chained to his belt, and a cracked crystal focus that hums softly in the presence of magic.
Mannerisms
Nexaroth speaks in a calm, academic tone even during violence. He pauses to correct imprecise word choices, traces invisible geometric shapes in the air while thinking, and tilts his head toward nearby storms as if listening to distant instructions.
Personality
Nexaroth is intensely curious, theatrical, and ruthlessly analytical. He enjoys explaining complicated ideas to people who cannot understand them, especially when doing so makes him appear superior. Beneath his composure is a constant hunger to prove that he is more than an accident of elemental blood and mortal circumstance.
Ideals
Power belongs to those with the courage to claim it. Laws, traditions, and morality are restraints invented by the weak to make the strong hesitate.
Bonds
The stolen planar crystal is the only object Nexaroth believes truly belongs to him. He will destroy kingdoms, betray allies, and risk his life to recover the engine's remaining components.
Flaws
Nexaroth assumes every kindness conceals a demand and every friendship is merely an inefficient form of leverage. He cannot resist forbidden knowledge, even when pursuing it will obviously endanger innocent people. When cornered, he would rather sacrifice an ally than admit he made a mistake.
Quirks
Background
Nexaroth Soulreign was born during a violent thunderstorm in a remote observatory built into a mountain cliff. His mother, a mortal astronomer, believed the storm had answered a ritual intended to reveal the movements of the outer planes. Nexaroth grew up surrounded by star charts, forbidden treatises, and the brittle bones of failed experiments. He learned early that knowledge was not sacred. It was a weapon, and the wise person was the one willing to use it without hesitation. As a young apprentice, Nexaroth served the aging sage Veyr Malach, who taught him the fundamentals of wizardry and entrusted him with a collection of restricted historical records. Nexaroth eventually discovered that Veyr had concealed evidence of a forgotten planar engine capable of altering the boundary between worlds. Rather than share the discovery, Nexaroth sabotaged the observatory, stole the engine's central crystal, and left his mentor to die beneath the collapsing archive. Now he travels as a scholar and adventurer, seeking the remaining components of the planar engine. He claims to desire enlightenment, but his true goal is dominion over every force that once treated him as insignificant.
