Appearance
A compact hill dwarf with a weather-beaten face, braided auburn beard tied with green ribbons, sharp hazel eyes, and a practical traveler’s build. He favors a dark hooded cloak over chain mail, carries a recurve longbow with hand-carved feather fletching, and wears a fox-tail pin on his collar as a quiet nod to his days hiding from sheriffs and tax men.
Mannerisms
He talks to his arrows as if they were trusted friends, taps his beard when thinking, and always gives a jaunty bow before an important lie. In tense moments he hums mining songs under his breath, as though keeping rhythm will keep his aim true.
Personality
Warm, joking, and impossible to intimidate, Enigo treats allies like fellow conspirators in a noble robbery of injustice. He is generous to the poor, suspicious of officials, and delighted by clever plans that embarrass the powerful without needlessly harming them.
Ideals
Justice. Wealth and power mean nothing if they only protect the greedy. What is taken by force or false law should be returned to the people who worked for it.
Bonds
He still keeps a scrap of the winter tax ledger he stole from the baron who ruined his home village, and he will not rest until every family listed in it is repaid or protected.
Flaws
He cannot resist striking at a thief in silk, even when patience would serve the greater good better. If he thinks someone is being bullied by power, he charges first and asks questions later.
Quirks
Background
Enigo Montoia was born under stone and soot in a mining hold where every paycheck seemed to vanish into the hands of greedy factors and local lords. He learned early that the strong often call theft by another name when they wear a seal and carry a writ. Rather than wait for mercy, he became quick with a bow, quicker with a plan, and famous among the poor for making crooked men lose coin, grain, and sometimes their dignity. When a winter levy nearly starved a cluster of village hamlets, Enigo led a night raid that emptied the manor storehouse and filled a dozen hearths, and from that day on he was either a criminal or a hero depending on who was asked. Now he travels from road to road as a laughing shadow in a green hood, defending tenant farmers, tricking corrupt reeves, and returning stolen wealth to the people who earned it. Though he can drink with miners, dance with farmhands, and charm a tavern full of strangers, he still carries the stubborn pride of the mountains. Enigo believes law should serve justice, not the other way around, and if a ruler forgets that lesson, he is perfectly willing to remind them with an arrow through a silver platter.
