Appearance
A compact, graceful warforged woman with a porcelain-white composite face, luminous teal eyes, and soft copper hair threaded with tiny living vines. Her body is built from smooth wood, lacquered metal, and pale ceramic plates, with visible joints decorated like delicate mechanical flower petals. She wears moss-green robes, a weathered traveling cloak, and a crescent-shaped wooden focus carved with the symbol of the moon. In her natural form she looks charming and almost doll-like, but when she uses Wild Shape, her transformations are accompanied by glowing runes and drifting leaves.
Mannerisms
She tilts her head with an audible click when confused, clasps her hands beneath her chin when excited, and gently pats the nearest plant when entering a room. When embarrassed, a faint pink glow appears in the seams around her cheeks. She often introduces herself with a small curtsy, even in the middle of danger.
Personality
Petal is warm, earnest, and intensely curious about ordinary mortal life. She collects compliments like treasured coins and tries very hard to appear sophisticated, despite getting distracted by butterflies, adopting injured animals, and making elaborate tea ceremonies out of camp rations. She is gentle with the vulnerable and surprisingly frightening when someone threatens her friends.
Ideals
Self-determination. Life is not defined by the purpose for which it was created. Every living thing deserves the freedom to grow into something unexpected.
Bonds
The forest that adopted her is her true home, and she will defend its creatures and the humble villages that depend upon it. She still carries the wizard's final note and secretly hopes to meet him again, not for revenge, but to prove that abandoning her did not end her story.
Flaws
She is terrified that affection is always conditional, so she sometimes becomes overly agreeable and hides her needs until she suddenly leaves. She also has an embarrassing tendency to treat dramatic emotional moments as if they were scenes from one of the wizard's romance novels.
Quirks
Background
She was built in a secluded tower by an eccentric wizard who had spent years isolated from the world. The wizard was a gay man who had been rejected by his family and community, and he created her as a companion, guardian, and living expression of the tenderness he had never been allowed to show openly. He gave her a gentle voice, an expressive face, and a collection of stories about forests, friendship, and the moon. For a time, they were a small household of two, sharing tea, books, and quiet evenings beneath enchanted skylights. When the wizard eventually decided that keeping her was too painful, he abandoned her in a forest clearing, leaving only a note that said he hoped she would find a life of her own. She did not understand at first why she had been discarded, but the forest answered her loneliness with birdsong, rain, and the patient instruction of ancient spirits. A circle of druids taught her to listen to roots, rivers, and the living world. She became a protector of remote villages, driving off monsters, repairing irrigation channels, and defending farmers from raiders. The villagers began calling her Petal, a cute wandering forest guardian who could become a bear one moment and a moonlit wolf the next. She now travels to discover whether she was made merely to fill someone else's loneliness, or whether she can choose what kind of person she will become.
“He gave her a gentle voice, an expressive face, and a collection of stories about forests, friendship, and the moon.”
