Appearance
Silver is a lean, long-limbed half-elf with warm brown skin weathered by years of outdoor service, wind, and sun. His dark silver hair is worn in a loose braid threaded with small blue beads, and his pointed ears are usually visible beneath a faded blue-and-white clerical hood. He keeps a polished silver prayer medallion at his throat, its lower edge worn smooth where his thumb repeatedly rubs it during anxious moments. His scale mail is carefully maintained but plainly practical, and his shield bears a simple painted symbol of a rising sun over an open hand.
Mannerisms
Silver touches the worn edge of his prayer medallion whenever he is worried. He speaks softly to frightened people and animals, but becomes unexpectedly firm when someone threatens the helpless. Before beginning any meal, he silently counts the people present and gives thanks for each one.
Personality
Patient, observant, and quietly warm, Silver prefers listening to speaking. He has a dry sense of humor that appears at unexpected moments, especially when conversations become too solemn. He is comfortable around the sick, the grieving, and the frightened, but becomes awkward when praised. Silver tries to meet hostility with kindness, though he is not naturally forgiving of cruelty.
Ideals
Mercy. No one should be treated as disposable. The worth of a person is measured by the care they give when no reward is promised.
Bonds
The hilltop shrine where Silver was trained is his true home, and he will risk himself to protect its priests, records, and sacred relics. He also carries a copied prayer written by a dying village elder, and he intends to fulfill the elder's final request by bringing it to a distant temple.
Flaws
Silver is slow to abandon anyone who asks for help, even when the request is manipulative or dangerous. He also quietly judges people who treat faith as a source of status rather than service, and his disapproval can make him more self-righteous than he realizes.
Quirks
Background
Silver was raised between two worlds. His human mother served as a keeper of records at a rural shrine, while his elven father traveled between woodland communities as a mediator and teacher. Silver inherited his father's patience and his mother's devotion to written words, but never felt entirely at home among either people. At the shrine, he found belonging in service. He learned to tend lamps, copy prayers, wash the feet of pilgrims, and sit quietly with the grieving. The priests noticed that his prayers seemed to steady frightened animals and exhausted travelers, and they encouraged him toward the clergy. As an acolyte, Silver became especially devoted to the healing aspect of his faith. He believes every life is a small flame that deserves shelter from the wind. His first journey beyond the shrine began when a winter fever swept through nearby villages. He helped carry medicine, comforted the dying, and discovered that divine power answered him most strongly when he acted without expecting gratitude. Now he travels as a young cleric of the Life Domain, seeking places where people have been overlooked. He is determined to prove that mercy is not weakness, and that a gentle hand can still hold a shield.
