Appearance
A slender drow woman with deep violet-gray skin, long white hair worn in a loose side braid, and pale lavender eyes that often hold a distant, sorrowful expression. She dresses in practical dark leather beneath a weathered noble cloak, with silver moon motifs worked into her cuffs and a small lute strapped across her back. Her movements are graceful but guarded, like someone accustomed to watching every doorway.
Mannerisms
She lowers her gaze when speaking about her family, but looks directly at anyone being mistreated. Before beginning a song, she touches two fingers to the moon emblem at her throat. Her speech is carefully formal until someone makes her laugh.
Personality
Quietly compassionate, observant, and more stubborn than her delicate appearance suggests. Zeliska listens before she speaks, then chooses words with the precision of a duelist. She is uncomfortable with praise but fiercely protective of outsiders, fugitives, and anyone treated as irredeemable.
Ideals
Freedom. No one is born to be cruel, obedient, or owned. Every person deserves the chance to choose the light for themselves.
Bonds
Her devotion was discovered when she refused to perform a cruel satirical piece meant to humiliate a servant. Rather than recant, Zeliska fled into the Underdark and eventually reached the surface with the aid of fellow worshipers. Her family declared her an exile and stripped her of all meaningful inheritance, though she kept a signet ring and a fragment of her old pedigree as reminders of what she rejected. Now she travels as a bard, using music to offer courage to the lost and to prove that a drow can choose kindness without surrendering strength.
Flaws
She expects betrayal beneath every kindness and may sabotage a relationship before another person can abandon her. When angered, she becomes cutting and aristocratic, repeating the very contempt she fled. She also struggles to accept help, believing dependence will eventually become a chain.
Quirks
Background
Zeliska Ardan grew up in a secluded drow household where music was treated as ornament, diplomacy as manipulation, and mercy as a weakness to be punished. Her first true song came from a forbidden surface melody carried underground by a wandering devotee of Eilistraee. The song described moonlight as something that welcomed rather than exposed, and it awakened a longing Zeliska could no longer bury. She began secretly composing hymns to the Dark Maiden, disguising prayers as courtly ballads performed before her family.
