Appearance
Kapo is a slender, pale-skinned elf with long ash-black hair, narrow green eyes, and delicate features that conceal a cold, calculating expression. Their leather armor is covered by a dark moss-colored cloak, and a polished wooden shield bears an intricate spiral of roots and thorns. Kapo carries a sickle, a staff marked with botanical symbols, and a weather-stained book filled with precise notes on plants, beasts, curses, and the weaknesses of civilized societies.
Mannerisms
Kapo speaks softly and precisely, rarely using contractions. They pause before answering as if classifying the listener, brush invisible dirt from their sleeves when annoyed, and refer to people as if they were specimens in a field journal.
Personality
Kapo is patient, observant, and unnervingly polite. They listen more than they speak, remember every contradiction, and approach conversation like an experiment. Their curiosity is genuine, but it is rarely innocent. Kapo admires competence, despises waste, and shows unexpected tenderness toward injured animals, provided no person is watching.
Ideals
Order. Every living system has a hierarchy. The strong, informed, and disciplined should govern those who lack the wisdom to govern themselves.
Bonds
Kapo's former mentor vanished after discovering a forbidden druidic rite capable of reshaping a living ecosystem. Kapo intends to find the mentor, recover the research, and decide whether the rite should be perfected or used to establish a new order. They also keep a fragment of the mentor's annotated field journal, the only possession they would risk their life to protect.
Flaws
Kapo considers compassion an inefficient indulgence and is quick to justify cruelty as necessary pruning. They hoard information, manipulate allies through carefully chosen omissions, and become dangerously arrogant when confronted by someone whose knowledge exceeds their own.
Quirks
Background
Kapo was raised among an isolated elven conclave that treated knowledge as both treasure and weapon. While other young elves learned songs, history, and the names of ancestors, Kapo became fascinated by the silent systems beneath the forest, the fungal colonies that consumed the dead, the predators that culled the weak, and the ancient magic that caused roots to split stone. Their studies eventually revealed an uncomfortable truth. Nature was not kind or fair, but it was orderly, and those who understood its laws could make others obey them.
“Their studies eventually revealed an uncomfortable truth.”
