Appearance
A slender male wood elf with ash-brown hair worn in a severe braid, pale olive skin, and watchful gray-green eyes. His left forearm bears faint burn scars from the destruction of his monastery. He dresses in undyed gray robes beneath a weather-stained green mantle, with a simple wooden prayer bead cord wrapped twice around his wrist. Despite his fragile build, his posture is perfectly balanced and his movements are economical, deliberate, and nearly silent.
Mannerisms
He pauses for three slow breaths before answering difficult questions. When irritated, he rubs the wooden prayer beads around his wrist in a steady rhythm. He rarely raises his voice, and when he does, the sudden sharpness is more unsettling than shouting.
Personality
Sethesh is quiet, observant, and intensely self-controlled. He notices exits, changes in breathing, and the condition of people's hands before he notices their clothing. He is patient with the frightened and respectful toward the poor, but his contempt for vanity remains difficult to hide. Beneath his stoicism is a deep tenderness that appears in practical acts, such as repairing a stranger's sandals, preparing tea, or sitting silently beside someone who cannot speak.
Ideals
Truth. Comfort built on ignorance is only another kind of prison. I will uncover what happened to my order, but I must remain honest about what I find.
Bonds
The last surviving prayer scroll of the Monastery of the Veiled Breath is always within reach. He will protect anyone who carries the order's teachings with sincerity, even if they have never heard its name.
Flaws
He mistakes emotional restraint for wisdom and can become cold or dismissive when others express grief openly. He also cannot resist investigating burned structures, even when doing so endangers himself or his companions.
Quirks
Background
Sethesh was born into one of the old elven merchant families, where silk, music, and polished silver were considered ordinary parts of life. He rejected that comfort after witnessing the quiet desperation hidden beneath it. Seeking discipline rather than indulgence, he entered the remote Monastery of the Veiled Breath, an order that taught the body was a vessel for truth and that silence could reveal what noise concealed. There, he learned to fight without anger, to read the movement of leaves, and to endure hunger, cold, and loneliness without complaint. The monastery burned during a moonless night while Sethesh was away gathering bitterroot in the hills. He returned to find the sanctuary reduced to blackened beams, its prayer bells melted and its surviving monks missing. The fire showed signs of deliberate sorcery, but no attacker claimed responsibility. During the years that followed, Sethesh lived as a hermit in abandoned watchtowers and forest shrines, studying the ash, tending the wounded, and recording every clue in a weatherproof journal. Now he has left isolation behind. He travels in search of the force that destroyed his order, carrying its final unburned prayer scroll and refusing to let vengeance become the only meaning left in his life.
