Soldiers loyal to your former military organization still recognize your authority and influence, and they defer to you if they are of a lower rank. You can also usually gain access to friendly military encampments and fortresses where your rank is recognized.

Appearance
Garrick is a tall, surprisingly lean man with sharp, intelligent eyes hidden behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles. Unlike most barbarians, his skin is relatively clean and he keeps his dark hair tied back in a neat queue. He wears rugged soldier's fatigues rather than hides. However, when his temper flares, his muscles tingle with a localized swelling and his eyes lose all focus, replaced by a cold, predatory stare.
Mannerisms
He tends to tap his fingers in a rhythmic sequence when he is thinking, and he always addresses people by their full formal titles.
Personality
He is an intellectual who believes that every problem can be solved with sufficient data. He speaks with a refined, precise vocabulary and often corrects others' grammar. Despite this, he possesses a deep-seated frustration with the limitations of logic and a dark fascination with the 'purity' of unthinking action. He is polite but distant, often appearing to be calculating something in his head while others talk.
Ideals
Logic. Everything in the world, including the heat of rage, follows a set of observable rules. (Lawful)
Bonds
I still carry the tactical manual of my former commander. It is my duty to ensure his teachings are not forgotten.
Flaws
I am prone to 'over-thinking' a situation until the moment I snap, at which point I lose all sense of self-preservation.

Background
Garrick was once a brilliant military tactician and logistics officer for a major human kingdom. He spent his years in libraries and war rooms, mapping out supply routes and calculating wind resistance for archers. He never expected to be on the front lines. During a sudden and brutal collapse of the flank during a border skirmish, Garrick found himself cornered. The terror of the moment bypassed his logic entirely. He didn't just fight, he entered a fugue state of mathematical carnage, utilizing an axe with the same cold efficiency he used for bookkeeping. While his newfound combat prowess saved his life, it horrified his superiors. He was a man who could calculate the trajectory of a stone while crushing a man's skull without blinking. Diagnosed with 'battle-borne mania,' he was honorably discharged from the military. He now seeks to understand the scientific link between his heightened intellect and the primitive rage that surges within him. He fears that one day the rage will be all that remains, but for now, he uses it as a tool, much like his ledger or his compass. He has taken to the road as a mercenary. He treats adventuring like a field study, meticulously recording the anatomy of monsters and the effectiveness of various combat maneuvers. He is a barbarian who does not scream because he is too busy calculating exactly how much force is required to sever a limb.
