Appearance
Var is a horned tiefling in soot-dark plate mail, his skin a deep ember red and his eyes like banked coals. He carries a massive greatsword with obsessive care, the blade kept spotless despite the blackened armor and iron chains that hang from his belt. His expression is hard and watchful, as if every room is a battlefield waiting to be dominated.
Mannerisms
Var speaks in short commands and rarely raises his voice. He stands perfectly still when angered, then moves with abrupt, decisive violence. He sharpens his sword while listening to others, as if weighing their worth against the edge of the blade.
Personality
Cold, disciplined, and relentlessly ambitious, Var believes every problem has a hierarchy and every hierarchy has a top. He is patient in planning, severe in judgment, and deeply unimpressed by weakness. He values competence, obedience, and visible displays of resolve.
Ideals
Power. The world is ruled by those strong enough to seize it and hold it. Mercy is a tool, not a virtue, and order is only real when it is enforced.
Bonds
He keeps a dented insignia of rank from his soldier days, and he will not let anyone mock the chain of command he once wore. He intends to build a personal domain where his strength becomes law.
Flaws
Var respects strength so much that he mistakes cruelty for wisdom. He will risk innocent lives if he believes fear and discipline will produce a stronger result, and he rarely admits when mercy is the better tactic. If challenged publicly, he becomes dangerously obsessed with proving dominance, even when restraint would serve him better.

Background
Var was born under a bad omen, or so the village priests said when they saw his horns and infernal eyes. In truth, he was simply born stronger than the people around him, and from the first days of childhood he learned that fear was a language everyone understood. When the local militia came recruiting, he joined not out of patriotism, but because armies were the cleanest road to power. Rank meant food, training, and permission to crush anyone who stood in his way. He learned the ways of war quickly, then learned that pure violence was not enough. In the chaos of battle he found the stern promise of conquest, a creed that rewarded willpower, discipline, and the right to make others kneel. Var pledged himself as a paladin not to protect the helpless, but to become an unstoppable force, a tyrant who believed order was best enforced by fear. Now he travels in black steel with a sword large enough to split a shield, seeking worthy foes, broken armies, and the chance to prove that only the strongest deserve to lead.
