Features
7 featuresAction
- Divine SenseLevel 1
As an action, you can open your awareness to detect strong evil until the end of your next turn. You know the location of any celestial, fiend, or undead within 60 feet that is not behind total cover, and you know the type of any being sensed, but not its identity. You can use this feature a number of times equal to 1 plus your Charisma modifier, regaining all uses after a long rest.
- Lay on HandsLevel 1
Your blessed touch can heal wounds. You have a pool of healing power that replenishes when you finish a long rest. The pool restores a total number of hit points equal to 5 times your paladin level. As an action, you can touch a creature and draw power from the pool to restore hit points, up to the amount remaining. Alternatively, you can expend 5 hit points from the pool to cure the target of one disease or neutralize one poison affecting it.
- Breath WeaponDragonbornAs an action, exhale fire in a 15-foot cone. Creatures in the area make a DC 11 Dexterity saving throw, taking 2d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful save. The damage increases at higher levels.

Appearance
A broad-shouldered male red dragonborn with deep crimson scales, swept-back black horns, and ember-orange eyes. His scales are marked by old training scars along his arms and jaw. He wears practical chain mail beneath a blue-and-gold surcoat bearing his family's crest, and carries a longsword, shield, and five javelins. Despite his noble bearing, his armor is carefully maintained rather than ostentatious.
Mannerisms
Aurex stands unnaturally straight even when exhausted, touches his signet ring when weighing a difficult decision, and addresses strangers with formal titles until they insist otherwise. When angered, faint wisps of smoke escape between his teeth.
Personality
Courteous, disciplined, and quietly compassionate. Aurex treats every promise as a binding obligation and prefers direct action to grand speeches. He is comfortable in noble courts but more at ease among soldiers, laborers, and travelers who judge him by what he does rather than by his family name.
Ideals
Responsibility. Power and privilege are only honorable when used to defend those who have neither.
Bonds
I will restore honor to House Valdrath by protecting the people my family once failed.
Flaws
I am proud to the point of stubbornness, and I struggle to admit when someone of lower station has a better solution.

Background
Aurex Valdrath was born into a dragonborn noble house whose influence rested on old treaties, careful marriages, and the belief that duty mattered more than comfort. His family expected him to become a diplomat, but Aurex found little satisfaction in ceremonial promises made by people who never intended to keep them. During his youth, he secretly trained with the household guard, where he learned that courage was not a matter of bloodline or reputation, but of standing between danger and those who could not withstand it alone. When a fire swept through a poor district under his family's protection, Aurex disobeyed orders to remain safely at the estate and led civilians through the flames. He saved many lives, but the disaster exposed years of neglect by officials who had diverted funds meant for the district's defenses. Disillusioned by his family's silence, Aurex left home to serve as a paladin, seeking to make his noble name meaningful through action. He now travels as a shield for the vulnerable, determined to prove that privilege is not an excuse for indifference, but a responsibility to those without it.
