Thalakos stands at nearly eight feet tall, possessing skin the color of a thundercloud. His body is covered in naturally occurring lithic patterns that look like jagged peaks, and he bears a massive scar across his chest from the avalanche that made him a hero. He wears thick grizzly bear furs and leather harness straps, with his deep blue eyes offering a sharp contrast to his grey complexion. He carries a greataxe carved from dark obsidian that glimmers like a moonless night.

Thalakos is a man of heavy silence, preferring to listen to the wind and the earth rather than human chatter. He is surprisingly gentle with children and small animals, often carving wooden toys for those he meets. He possesses a calm but unyielding demeanor, acting with the patience of a glacier until combat demands the fury of a storm.

Thalakos was once a prideful hunter of the Sky-Watcher goliath tribe. High in the Spine of the World, he learned that the mountains do not care for the arrogance of men. When a massive landslide threatened a lowland human village, Thalakos defied his chieftain's order to let nature take its course. He used his immense strength and a fallen ironwood tree to redirect the flow of rock and ice, saving the village of Oakhaven but nearly losing his life in the process. During his long recovery among the villagers, he realized that true strength is not measured by the foes one slays, but by the lives one preserves. Cast out from his tribe for choosing outsiders over kin, he now wanders as a protector of the defenseless. He follows the spirit of the bear, seeing in the creature the same dual nature he possesses: a peaceful guardian who can become an unstoppable force of nature when those under its care are threatened. He does not crave coin or renown, simply a place where his strength can serve a purpose higher than mere survival.
