Appearance
Nova is a human woman in her late twenties with a lean, athletic build shaped by covert operations, survival training, and years of field work. Her fair skin bears faint scars across her collarbone and forearm. She has sharp features, high cheekbones, a straight nose, and pale blue eyes with a calm, analytical intensity. Her blonde hair is cut in a neat, chin-length asymmetrical bob. In casual settings she wears a fitted black tank top, dark gray cargo pants, and scuffed but carefully maintained black leather boots. Her tactical gear is a matte black sound-dampening bodysuit beneath a charcoal modular vest, reinforced gloves, silent-soled boots, and equipment pouches. Her modern weapons are represented as a compact pistol, backup pistol, suppressed submachine gun, throwing knives, and concealed wire garrote.
Mannerisms
Nova speaks in short, precise sentences and rarely repeats herself. She positions herself with a clear view of doors, windows, and reflective surfaces. When thinking, she taps one finger twice against her thumb. She checks the magazine or chamber of a weapon whenever a conversation becomes tense.
Personality
Quiet, observant, and relentlessly efficient. Nova values competence, preparation, and earned trust. She has little patience for posturing or unnecessary chatter, but she is fiercely protective of people who prove reliable under pressure. Beneath her controlled exterior is a survivor who still wants to believe that loyalty can exist without coercion.
Ideals
Loyalty must be earned through action. Institutions are expendable, but people who stand beside one another under pressure are worth protecting at any cost.
Bonds
She protects the few surviving members of her old unit, especially those who were listed as dead to conceal the black-site program. She also carries the final encrypted record from her captivity and will risk almost anything to expose the people responsible.
Flaws
Nova assumes every kindness has a price and every organization eventually betrays its people. She can become cold, controlling, and needlessly secretive, especially when frightened. She would rather disappear than admit she needs help, and her instinct to eliminate threats can make mercy feel like an unacceptable risk.
Quirks
Background
Nova was recruited young into a covert intelligence division that officially did not exist. Her human adaptability made her useful in every environment, while her patience, discipline, and instinct for reading danger made her exceptional at reconnaissance. She served as a scout, infiltrator, and marksman, learning to move through cities as easily as forests. Her missions were measured in quiet entries, recovered targets, and enemies who never realized they had been found. The unit called her a ranger because she could cross any boundary, and a stalker because she always returned with the truth. During a deep-cover operation, Nova was captured and held for six months in a black-site facility. Interrogators broke bones, erased records, and tried to turn loyalty into a weakness. They failed to break her mind, but the experience changed the way she understood trust. She escaped with little more than her life and a sealed data fragment identifying the officials who had abandoned her. Now she works as a Gloom Stalker and field operative, moving through darkness, urban ruins, and hostile territory with ruthless precision. Her service as a soldier taught her obedience, but her captivity taught her judgment. Nova no longer follows orders simply because they are given. She follows people who prove they deserve to be followed.
