He is eccentric and speaks of the sun as if it were a grand, celestial cat watching over a garden of mortals. Onion is prone to bouts of intense academic focus followed by sudden, chaotic bursts of energy. He refers to himself in the third person when feeling particularly important.

Prince Onion was once a quiet researcher named Barnaby who spent his years in the vaults of the Great Library. He became obsessed with ancient texts describing the sun as the 'Source of the Golden Whiskers,' believing the solar cycles were actually a divine feline grooming itself. During a solar eclipse, he claimed to have received a message in the darkness that crowned him 'Prince' of the new dawn. He promptly packed his books, fashioned a mace from a decorative door knocker, and set out to shine light into the dim corners of the world. He travels now not for gold, but to document every sun-touched location in the world to complete his grand thesis. His colleagues think he is mad, but the fire he calls from the sky is very real.
