Appearance
Curran is a small, wiry goblin with russet-brown skin, broad alert ears, and a compact body trained to move without wasted motion. They stand with their weight on the balls of their feet, heels barely touching the ground, as if every room might suddenly become a street chase. Their patched charcoal wraps are reinforced at the knees and elbows, and a faded yellow scarf is tied around one wrist. Curran's most noticeable feature is not an injury but their habit of occupying the narrowest available strip of space, often folding themselves beside a doorway, beneath a table, or behind another person's shoulder without seeming to notice they have vanished from view.
Mannerisms
Curran rarely stands squarely facing another person. They angle their body toward exits, doorways, or empty stretches of floor, and when listening they tilt their head until one ear points directly at the speaker. They count steps under their breath when entering unfamiliar buildings.
Personality
Curran is observant, dryly funny, and more compassionate than they want anyone to know. They speak in short practical sentences, then occasionally deliver an unexpectedly precise observation that leaves everyone else quiet. Curran dislikes grand speeches but will work tirelessly when someone vulnerable is being ignored.
Ideals
Visibility is a privilege. The people no one sees deserve someone who notices everything for them.
Bonds
The temple caretaker who spared Curran still waits for a promised return that Curran has never managed to make. Curran carries her brass candle snuffer and will risk almost anything to protect the poor, the overlooked, and the children sleeping under city eaves.
Flaws
Curran assumes that kindness always creates a debt, so they sometimes reject help until the situation becomes dangerous. They are also deeply suspicious of comfortable people who speak confidently about rules they have never needed to break.
Quirks
Background
Curran grew up beneath the market bridges of a river city where the streets were loud enough to hide anything and crowded enough to conceal anyone. They survived by carrying messages, lifting purses only from people who could afford to lose them, and learning which watchmen accepted apologies instead of bribes. An old temple caretaker eventually caught Curran stealing winter candles. Rather than turn them in, she made Curran sweep the shrine, then taught them that silence was not merely the absence of sound. It was attention, patience, and the discipline to let the world reveal its weak places.
“An old temple caretaker eventually caught Curran stealing winter candles.”
