Appearance
Gwyn is a gaunt, pale-skinned elf with long silver hair, pointed ears, and unsettling violet eyes that flicker with dim crimson sparks whenever her magic stirs. She wears a soot-stained scholar's robe beneath a dark traveling cloak, with ink-black gloves and a tarnished silver circlet etched with incomprehensible symbols. Her hands are covered in tiny arcane burns from reckless experiments.
Mannerisms
Gwyn speaks in a quiet, clinical tone, pauses to correct imprecise wording, and writes brief observations in the air with one gloved finger. She rarely blinks while listening and smiles only when someone reveals a secret.
Personality
Gwyn is coldly curious, disdainful of sentiment, and fascinated by the moment people realize they have lost control. She is more comfortable with books, experiments, and occult diagrams than with ordinary conversation.
Ideals
Knowledge is power, and power belongs to whoever is clever enough to seize it. Laws, customs, and compassion are obstacles to be studied and overcome.
Bonds
She carries a burned fragment of the observatory's forbidden archive and will destroy anyone who threatens to recover or expose it.
Flaws
She treats other people's fear as evidence of their inferiority and cannot resist testing the limits of anyone who appears mentally vulnerable.
Quirks
Background
Gwyn was born in a secluded elven observatory where generations of sages charted the movements of stars and the hidden currents of magic. She showed little patience for formal lessons, but strange power erupted from her whenever she became frustrated. The elders called it an unrefined manifestation of sorcerous talent. Gwyn considered it proof that knowledge was merely a cage built by people too frightened to act. She eventually abandoned the observatory after deliberately burning a vault of restricted texts, keeping only the pages that described how thought, memory, and fear could be reshaped by magic. Now Gwyn wanders as a scholar, arcanist, and quiet predator. Her research focuses on the limits of free will, especially the methods by which powerful minds can be bent without leaving visible scars. She seeks ancient sources that might explain the origin of her magic, though she is equally interested in using those secrets to erase rivals and enthrall the vulnerable. She presents herself as a detached academic, but beneath the composed exterior is an elf who believes that morality is an excuse invented by the powerless. Her greatest fear is not death, but discovering that her magic has no deeper purpose beyond her own impulses.
