Appearance
Ferrum is a tall man with skin the color of burnished pewter. He has dark hair that looks like it has been sprinkled with fine iron filings, and his eyes reflect light with a distinct metallic shimmer. Where the iron shards entered his body, his skin has thickened into natural, subtle grey calluses that resemble plating. He wears heavy chain mail that appears partially fused with his own flesh at the neck and wrists.
Mannerisms
He has a habit of tapping his knuckles together, which creates a sharp ring like a hammer on an anvil.
Personality
He is quiet and incredibly focused, often treating social situations like he is trying to hammer a stubborn piece of ore. He speaks with a steady, low rumble and values precision above all else. He is surprisingly gentle for someone who looks like a statue come to life.
Ideals
Durability. Like well-tempered steel, a person must be able to withstand the heat of the world without breaking.
Bonds
The ten shards within me are my burden and my strength. I must find where they belong before they consume the rest of my humanity.
Flaws
I am stiff and literal, sometimes forgetting that people are not made of metal and can be easily hurt by blunt truths.
Quirks
Background
Ferrum was a simple village smith until a sudden sinkhole swallowed his forge. He fell nearly forty feet into an ancient, airless chamber where ten jagged shards of meteoric iron were suspended in a strange, humming light. He landed directly on the shards, but instead of dying, he felt them melt into his blood. They became a part of his skeletal structure, acting as conduits for a source of power he did not know he possessed. When he finally climbed out of the hole, he realized he could summon weapons to his hand and shield himself with walls of force. Now, he travels to understand what those ten pieces of iron truly are. He believes they were part of something larger, a celestial engine or a fallen star, and that the heat in his chest is a signal from their origin point.
