Appearance
Bobby is a compact lightfoot halfling with warm brown skin, curly chestnut hair kept tied back with a bit of cord, and bright eyes that miss almost nothing. He dresses in well-maintained dark leather armor under a practical hooded cloak, with a rapier at his hip, a few hidden daggers, and the faint grin of a man who always knows the quickest exit. His hands are nimble and scarred with small cuts from old locks, rooftops, and bad decisions he refuses to regret.
Mannerisms
Bobby talks with quick, precise hand gestures, taps doorframes and tabletops when thinking, and always pauses at thresholds as if listening for danger. He smiles at bad news before he curses it, and he never sits with his back to a door.
Personality
Bobby is cheerful under pressure, sharp-eyed, and disarmingly polite, with the easy confidence of someone who trusts his feet more than his luck. He enjoys puzzles, honest work done well, and the thrill of outsmarting cruelty. When the stakes are high, he becomes intensely focused and quietly protective, especially around people he thinks the world has underestimated.
Ideals
Fairness. The world cheats ordinary people often enough, so Bobby believes clever hands should be used to even the score and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
He still keeps a tiny silver key that belonged to the first family he ever failed to protect, and he has sworn that no friend of his will be left locked out, trapped, or abandoned if he can help it.
Flaws
Bobby cannot resist investigating a locked door, a whispered secret, or a suspicious lie, even when common sense says to walk away. He also hates owing favors, which makes him stubbornly independent at the exact moments he should ask for help.
Quirks
Background
Bobby was born in a lane where everybody knew everybody's business, which made him curious enough to learn what nobody said out loud. As a halfling, he was small enough to slip through crowds and doorways, and quick enough to hear secrets before larger folk noticed he was there. He started as a helpful errand boy, then a clever lookout, and eventually the one who could open any latch, vanish into any alley, and talk his way out of most of the trouble his talent invited. He never loved theft for its own sake. Bobby stole because the city was full of hard people who took too much and gave too little, and he could not stand seeing honest folk squeezed by crooked hands. That sense of fairness made him useful to thieves and smugglers alike, but it also got him in trouble when he chose mercy over profit. Now he moves through the world as a rogue with a conscience, using his knack for shadows to protect the helpless, expose the cruel, and occasionally relieve a villain of their valuables before they can do worse with them.
