Appearance
A broad-shouldered dwarf with a weathered copper beard tied in three military knots, a shaved scalp marked by old chapel scars, and tired eyes that look gentler than his battlefield reputation. He wears a dented chain shirt beneath a travel-stained tabard bearing a faded temple sigil, and his shield is scratched from years of holding the line. His voice is gravelly, precise, and carried with the clipped discipline of a veteran who has seen too much to waste words.
Mannerisms
He counts supplies before he sits down, checks exits without thinking, and unconsciously squares his shoulders whenever he hears a shouted command. In conversation he taps two fingers against his holy symbol as if keeping time with an invisible drill cadence.
Personality
Gruff, patient, and relentlessly practical, Bjornson speaks like a field commander but acts like a caretaker. He believes mercy is strongest when it is organized, and he has no patience for theatrical piety if a bandage or shield wall would do more good. Under the armor, he is quietly compassionate, almost to a fault, and measures people by whether they protect those weaker than themselves.
Ideals
Duty. Life is worth defending not because it is noble, but because every living soul deserves one more chance than the war offers them.
Bonds
He keeps a list of every comrade he could not save, reciting their names before sleep and after any battle that leaves the living standing.
Flaws
He treats every crisis like a battlefield order, which makes him slow to trust improvisation and quicker to scold allies than comfort them. He is deeply uncomfortable accepting care for himself, and will ignore pain until it becomes obvious to everyone else. When someone reminds him of a failed evacuation, he becomes stubborn to the point of recklessness.
Quirks
Background
Bjornson Bjornson was born beneath a mountain fortress where every child learned the names of tunnels, ancestors, and fallen kings before they learned to swing a hammer. He chose the spear instead. In his youth he served as a shield-brother in a border war against raiders and things that came up from the dark seams of the earth. He survived because he was stubborn, because his comrades were faster, and because when the line broke, he had a habit of planting his feet like he was part of the stone itself. When the war ended, Bjornson expected to retire to a hall, a farm, or a quiet grave. Instead, he stood over a battlefield littered with the dying and felt the first true call of the divine. Not a thunderous revelation, but a soldier's instinct that the wounded still had work left to do. He became a cleric in the old military camps and field shrines, tending the broken and burying the dead with equal devotion. He still carries himself like a sergeant, but his war now is against suffering, despair, and the cruelty that makes both seem inevitable.
