Appearance
Jeriah is a lean, charcoal-feathered kenku with silver-gray markings around his eyes and a narrow ivory beak. His feathers are carefully groomed, though several are tipped with green dye from years of working with herbs and pigments. He wears weathered leather armor beneath a deep forest-green mantle, carries a polished wooden shield marked with guild symbols, and keeps a bundle of dried plants, prayer ribbons, and copied documents at his belt.
Mannerisms
Jeriah tilts his head sharply when listening, preens one wing whenever he is nervous, and punctuates serious advice with perfectly imitated fragments of old sermons. When thinking, he taps his shield three times, then whispers the sound of rustling leaves.
Personality
Jeriah is patient, observant, and quietly encouraging. He treats every person as an unfinished work worthy of care, whether they are a frightened villager, a stubborn merchant, or a wounded beast. He speaks sparingly in his own natural voice, preferring carefully chosen phrases borrowed from people he respects. Beneath his calm professionalism is a growing excitement about finally discovering what he can become beyond the guild's walls.
Ideals
Stewardship. What is built, grown, or taught should serve the community without destroying the foundation that supports it. Wisdom is a gift only when it helps others flourish.
Bonds
The guild that raised Jeriah is his family, and he will protect its members even when their leaders make difficult mistakes. He also carries a small chisel belonging to his first mentor, a cleric who taught him that guidance means helping others find their own strength.
Flaws
Jeriah is reluctant to admit ignorance, especially when others expect him to provide guidance. He sometimes repeats authoritative words from his mentors instead of confronting his own uncertainty, and his instinct to preserve tradition can make him slow to accept necessary change.
Quirks
Background
Jeriah was raised among craftsmen, traders, and devout caretakers, where every guild hall had its own rituals for blessing tools, settling disputes, and honoring the natural materials that made honest work possible. Though he could not create a voice of his own, his kenku mimicry made him an excellent student of sermons, contracts, and instruction. He became known as the guild's spiritual counselor, preserving the words of senior clerics and using them to guide apprentices, comfort the grieving, and mediate conflicts between rival workshops. Over the years, he learned that faith was not confined to temples. It lived in the grain of timber, the temper of steel, the patience of the artisan, and the generosity of a guild that protected its members. Jeriah eventually mastered nearly every duty the guild could offer. He served as archivist, mediator, herbal caretaker, ceremonial speaker, and adviser to master craftsmen. Yet his reputation became a cage. People sought him for familiar wisdom, but few wondered what wisdom he might discover for himself. At last, he left the guild with its blessing, carrying a wooden shield carved from a fallen ash tree and a collection of copied prayers. As a druid of the forest, he now seeks to bring the guild's principles of stewardship and mutual aid to the wider world. He believes that every community, from a village to a wilderness grove, deserves someone willing to listen, preserve its traditions, and help it grow without being consumed by its own success.
