Appearance
DxFreedom is a tall, broad-shouldered aasimar with warm brown skin, close-cropped black hair, and faint golden radiance visible around his pupils when he invokes his celestial power. His polished chain mail is worn beneath a dark crimson surcoat, but the surcoat has been repeatedly repaired with neat, contrasting thread. His shield is immaculate, bearing a sunburst deliberately cut in half by a vertical black line. He speaks in a calm, measured baritone, though his breathing becomes sharply controlled and audible whenever his authority is challenged.
Mannerisms
He inspects the alignment of objects on a table while speaking. Before issuing a command, he draws one slow breath through his nose and rests two fingers against the rim of his shield. When angry, he becomes quieter rather than louder.
Personality
DxFreedom is controlled, courteous, and intensely observant. He remembers names, ranks, debts, and every promise made in his presence. He prefers quiet authority to theatrical menace, but he is perfectly willing to use fear when politeness fails. He genuinely protects those under his command, although he believes protection gives him the right to control them.
Ideals
Order is the only reliable form of freedom. A society that permits everyone to choose for themselves has merely abandoned them to fear, selfishness, and chaos.
Bonds
He is bound to the surviving soldiers of his former regiment, and he intends to build them a nation where obedience is treated as the highest civic virtue.
Flaws
He treats mercy as a dangerous indulgence and is quick to replace persuasion with coercion. Once he declares an order lawful, he will defend it long after its original purpose has become indefensible. He cannot tolerate public contradiction, especially from someone he considers less disciplined than himself.
Quirks
Background
DxFreedom was born during a battlefield eclipse, when a column of pale fire descended over a dying regiment and left him alive among the fallen. The soldiers called him a blessing, then taught him that blessings were useful only when organized, disciplined, and pointed at an enemy. He grew into a formidable infantry officer, admired for his refusal to panic and feared for the precise punishments he issued when orders were disobeyed. His celestial heritage manifested as healing light, radiant wings, and a voice that could make frightened recruits stand straight. He eventually joined a temple order that claimed to serve justice, but DxFreedom discovered that its priests valued mercy more than obedience. He abandoned them after deciding that compassion had become an excuse for weakness. Now he serves his own interpretation of divine law, a rigid hierarchy in which the strong impose order and the obedient are protected from one another. He calls this freedom, because he believes people are most free when they no longer have the burden of choosing. His military companions still follow him, not because they trust his morality, but because they know he will never hesitate when the command is given.
