Silas is a tall Triton with skin the color of a bruised ocean. His shoulders and forearms are literal clusters of calcified barnacles. He wears a tattered captain's coat that is always soaked with sea water regardless of the weather. His eyes are a milky violet, and his hair looks like dark, wet seaweed.

Silas is grim and pragmatic, viewing the land world as a sinking ship that just hasn't noticed it is underwater yet. He speaks with a raspy, gurgling voice. He finds the social rules of commoners baffling and prefers the direct, often violent code of The Barnacle Bunch.

Silas was once a decorated protector of the Triton depths, but he was cast out after searching for a forbidden trench where ancient things slumbered. He was caught in a deep pressure current that should have crushed him, but a voice from the blackness offered him air and power in exchange for becoming a beacon for the deep. He rose to the surface, a changed and cold man, and was eventually found by the pirates known as The Barnacle Bunch. They saw his utility, his ability to call monsters from the wake, and his knowledge of the currents. He joined their ranks as a navigator, but his true purpose is to ensure the surface world stays fearful of what lies beneath. He views his crew as a temporary alliance of scavengers, though he has come to respect their grit. Every night, he hears the ocean floor calling his name in the static of the crashing waves.
