Appearance
A lean black-scaled dragonborn with a muted bronze sheen along his horns and cheek ridges. His pale amber eyes are alert and slightly hooded, and one horn is chipped near the tip. He favors a well-fitted but worn leather coat, soft gloves, and dark travel clothes chosen for quiet movement. A faded red cord is tied around his left wrist, the last keepsake from his former criminal crew.
Mannerisms
Noren speaks softly and keeps his head slightly bowed, forcing people to lean closer. When thinking, he rubs the chipped tip of his left horn with one thumb. He never sits with his back to a door and casually counts exits whenever he enters a room.
Personality
Noren is observant, dryly humorous, and unfailingly polite when he is most suspicious. He prefers to solve problems with preparation, leverage, and a well-timed question. Beneath his calm manner is a restless need to prove that he is more than the convenient scapegoat others once made him.
Ideals
Freedom. No authority, guild, temple, or employer has the right to own another person's choices.
Bonds
The youngest member of Noren's old crew vanished after the magistrate's robbery. Noren will risk almost anything to find him and learn who arranged the betrayal.
Flaws
He assumes every act of kindness has a hidden price, and he would rather lie elegantly than admit he is frightened or emotionally invested.
Quirks
Background
Noren was raised among dragonborn traders who moved goods between river towns and the old border roads. His family expected him to become a caravan guard, but Noren found that locks, ledgers, and guarded conversations held more appeal than swords. His draconic heritage made strangers remember him, so he learned to use patience and courtesy as camouflage. A soft voice, a lowered hood, and a talent for appearing harmless carried him through more doors than brute force ever could. He eventually joined a small burglary crew operating out of a dockside district. Noren handled reconnaissance, false names, and the delicate work of opening doors without leaving a mark. The crew's leader betrayed them during a robbery involving a magistrate's sealed records, leaving Noren to take the blame while the others disappeared with the evidence. He escaped with only his thieves' tools, a stolen gaming set, and a red cord belonging to the youngest member of the crew. Now he travels under his own name, taking jobs that reward cleverness and avoiding causes that demand obedience. He still searches for the missing crew member, though he tells everyone he is only settling an old debt.
