Appearance
A handsome, powerfully built human man with broad shoulders, a straight posture, and carefully maintained dark blond hair cut short at the sides. His face is clean-shaven except for a neat, close-trimmed beard along the jaw. He dresses in severe navy and charcoal robes reinforced with leather at the shoulders and forearms, favoring practical materials over ornament. He moves with unnerving stillness when listening, then crosses a room in sudden, purposeful strides. His eyes are pale gray, observant and difficult to read, and his hands are marked with faint ink stains from decades of study.
Mannerisms
He pauses before answering even simple questions, as if consulting an invisible index. When irritated, he aligns nearby objects into perfect rows. He speaks in a calm, measured voice and rarely raises it, which makes his occasional anger more unsettling. Before casting a serious spell, he rolls his shoulders once and checks the position of every person in the room.
Personality
Controlled, observant, and quietly formidable. Odran is courteous to nearly everyone, but his courtesy is deliberate rather than warm. He asks precise questions, remembers nearly every answer, and prefers a difficult truth to a comforting lie. Beneath his stern composure is a genuine desire to prevent suffering through preparation, reliable knowledge, and competent leadership.
Ideals
Knowledge must be preserved, tested, and placed in the hands of those capable of using it responsibly. Ignorance is not innocence when the means to learn are available.
Bonds
He protects the academy archivist who first gave him access to forbidden records, and he intends to restore the truth about the vanished observatory, whatever powerful institutions that truth may implicate.
Flaws
He trusts systems more than people and can become coldly authoritarian when he believes disorder threatens the greater good. He is also vain about his intellect, especially when challenged by someone he considers careless or uneducated.

Background
Odran Vesk was born in a river town where his family repaired carts, milled grain, and kept careful accounts for people who could not afford mistakes. He was not raised among nobles or ancient wizarding houses. His first magical act was practical, a levitating cart wheel that saved his father from a crushing injury. A traveling scholar recognized the precision behind the feat and arranged for Odran to study at a distant academy. There, his discipline and remarkable memory carried him from copying manuscripts to mastering spells that senior instructors considered too dangerous for ordinary apprentices. As a sage, Odran spent years tracing the surviving records of a vanished imperial observatory. His research uncovered evidence that several respected historical accounts had been deliberately altered to conceal a magical catastrophe. When the academy refused to investigate, he left with the only complete set of notes, becoming an independent scholar, adviser, and occasional problem solver for rulers who valued results more than comfort. His pursuit of knowledge is now inseparable from his belief that civilization survives only when power is measured, recorded, and placed under rational control. He does not seek to rule the world, but he has concluded that someone competent must always be prepared to stop those who would.
