Appearance
Malice is a tall, slender drow woman with obsidian skin, waist-length white hair braided with black spider silk, and vivid crimson eyes. Fine silver scars mark the backs of her hands in the shape of spider legs, placed there during the rite in which she abandoned House Travra. She wears fitted black leather armor beneath layered robes of wine red, violet, and bone white, cut for movement and decorated with subtle web patterns. Two curved scimitars hang at her hips, their hilts wrapped in lacquered red cord. Her expression is composed and almost tender when speaking of Lolth, but becomes utterly still before violence.
Mannerisms
Malice speaks softly and rarely raises her voice. She pauses before answering as though listening to a distant spider moving across silk. When someone lies, she tilts her head and smiles with unsettling warmth. Before drawing a blade, she touches two fingers to the spider scar on her left hand.
Personality
Malice is disciplined, observant, and disturbingly affectionate toward those she considers useful to Lolth's design. She treats combat as ritual, conversation as reconnaissance, and kindness as a form of ownership. She has a dry, understated sense of humor and finds surface ideas of fair play genuinely confusing. Despite her cruelty, she is patient with novices who show sincere devotion and becomes fiercely protective of spiders, seeing every one as a possible messenger from her goddess.
Ideals
Devotion. A faithful servant must become whatever her goddess requires. A person is only valuable when she can be placed precisely where the web needs her.
Bonds
Lolth is my mother, commander, and only true sovereign. I will destroy anyone who tries to sever my connection to her, including the remnants of House Travra.
Flaws
I mistake submission for love and obedience for proof of worth. When Lolth's will seems unclear, I become reckless, cruel, and desperate to force an answer from the world.
Quirks
Background
Malice was born Aurelia Travra beneath the hanging bridges and venomous chandeliers of Menzoberranzan. House Travra marked her for the priesthood before she could walk, teaching her that obedience was the highest form of worship and that every sister was both rival and instrument. She learned the prayers, the genealogies of treachery, and the ceremonial handling of sacred blades. Yet Malice never possessed the devotional temperament her matrons expected. Her faith was too personal, too absolute. She did not merely fear Lolth. She loved her as a mother who demanded proof of love in blood. During a midnight ordeal beneath a ruined shrine, a living carpet of spiders crawled over Malice without biting. In the webbed darkness, she felt Lolth's attention settle upon her like a hand around the throat. The spiders marked her skin, and a voice without words commanded her to become a blade. She left the shrine as Malice, abandoning Aurelia and House Travra alike. Now she practices the Way of the Black Widow, her warped interpretation of surface samurai discipline. It favors poisoned steel, false retreats, concealed weapons, ambushes, and the beautiful certainty of a strike delivered when the enemy believes themselves safe. To Malice, honor is not fairness. Honor is usefulness. Every victory is another thread in the web of her goddess.
“She learned the prayers, the genealogies of treachery, and the ceremonial handling of sacred blades.”
