Appearance
Calyx has deep violet skin and small, elegant black horns that sweep back over their head like a crown. Their amber eyes look constantly bored yet see everything. They dress in high-quality, charcoal-colored tailored waistcoats layered over flexible, reinforced leather. They keep their tail tucked neatly within the folds of their coat unless they are using it for balance.
Mannerisms
They frequently tilt their head to the side when listening, as if hearing a secret no one else can detect. They never look a person directly in the eye, instead focusing on the person's hands or collar.
Personality
Calyx is analytical and distant, viewing every social interaction as a puzzle to be solved. They prefer to listen rather than speak, waiting for others to reveal their vulnerabilities through small slips in conversation. When they do speak, their voice is smooth and level, rarely showing emotion even in dire situations.
Ideals
Independence. I am the master of my own destiny and I refuse to be controlled by any law or authority figure.
Bonds
I keep a small silver locket from a mentor who taught me that a person is only as strong as their greatest secret.
Flaws
I often become so obsessed with the complexity of a plan that I fail to account for the simple randomness of bad luck.
Quirks
Background
Calyx was born to human parents who were horrified by their tiefling offspring, leading the child to realize early on that truth was less valuable than a well-constructed lie. By their teens, they had mastered the art of assuming false identities, finding that the high courts of the Sword Coast were far easier to navigate than the streets. They turned their natural analytical mind toward the mechanics of security, learning that every vault and every person has a flaw if you look closely enough. Over the years, Calyx moved from simple street cons to elaborate high-society heists. They spent a decade living as the personal secretary of a Duke, systematically emptying the noble's hidden coffers while receiving commendations for their hard work. Now a master of their craft, Calyx travels as an independent operative, seeking the next great challenge that their intellect can dismantle.
