Appearance
A slim teenage tiefling boy with elegant spiral horns, starry purple eyes, sharp cheekbones, a delicate jawline, ash gray skin, messy dark hair, and a long prehensile tail. He wears tattered street clothes layered under makeshift leather armor, and carries himself with a wary, graceful poise that makes him look older than he is.
Mannerisms
He speaks softly and watches from the corners of rooms. When thinking, his tail curls around his leg or taps a careful rhythm against the floor. He avoids standing still for long, as if the city itself might reclaim him if he stops moving.
Personality
Quiet, sharp-witted, and watchful, Kael seems aloof until someone shows him real mercy. He is polite in a strange, formal way, as if he learned manners by observing nobles from alley shadows and decided to imitate their grace. Under pressure he becomes intensely focused, almost elegant, moving with a street-honed instinct that makes even his caution look deliberate.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be owned, caged, or pushed into the dark because of how they were born. Power is only worth having if it can keep the weak alive long enough to choose their own path.
Bonds
He still protects the nameless children of the city lanes, because no one protected him when he needed it most. He keeps a bent copper token from the only person who ever showed him kindness, and he would cross a kingdom to repay that debt.
Flaws
He bristles at pity and assumes kindness always hides a bargain. When frightened, he lies quickly and badly, then doubles down rather than admit the truth. He is also tempted by anything that promises security, because hunger taught him how expensive trust can be.
Quirks
Background
He was born under a guttering lantern in a district that never learned his true name, only the one spat after him by frightened adults. The other children in the alleys saw the horns first, then the tail, then the strange purple sparkle in his eyes, and decided he belonged to the shadows. He learned to slip through crowded markets, steal bread without a sound, and sleep where the rain could not quite reach. His tattered clothes were stitched from discarded hems and his armor was scavenged from scraps, but his pride stayed carefully polished, like a blade hidden in a sleeve. One night, while hiding from watchmen in the skeleton of an abandoned shrine, he found a voice in the dark, elegant and patient, promising protection, power, and revenge against a world that had made him run. He accepted before he understood the price. The patron that answered him burns with infernal hunger, and the fire in his blood now has a name. He uses his new magic to survive the alleys that raised him, but every spell feels like a coin tossed into a deep well, one day he may have to answer whatever waits at the bottom.
