Appearance
Linna is a lean human woman with ink-stained fingers, a shaved undercut beneath a tightly bound veil of dark hair, and pale gray eyes that seem permanently fixed on funerary candles. She wears layered clerical vestments over practical mail, with a silver holy symbol of Kelemvor worn low and often hidden beneath her robes. Her face is calm, almost severe, but the calm has the brittle look of a cracked tombstone. When she is angry, she grows eerily gentle instead of loud.
Mannerisms
Speaks softly in complete sentences, even during danger. She touches her holy symbol before making any promise, and unconsciously counts the breaths of the dying or the newly dead as if reading a prayer.
Personality
Quiet, exacting, and unsettlingly compassionate, Linna treats every conversation like a funeral rite. She is patient with the grieving, merciless with the corrupt, and most frightening when she sounds kind.
Ideals
Mercy should mean release, not endless labor. If a god of death is condemned to be a functionary for eternity, then that is a cosmic injustice that must be ended, even by murder.
Bonds
I keep a handwritten ledger of every soul I have laid to rest, because I owe them witness, and because one day I will carry that ledger before the throne of my god.
Flaws
She mistakes obsession for devotion, and will sacrifice sleep, safety, and relationships to pursue a holy question. When someone praises Kelemvor, she becomes almost defensive, as if she alone understands how burdened he is. She can be chillingly polite while plotting something sacrilegious.
Quirks
Background
Linna was raised in a temple that treated death as a solemn mercy, not a punishment. As a child of the faithful, she learned to copy prayers, tend the dead, and hear the confessions of grieving families who came to Kelemvor’s altar terrified of what waited after the grave. The priests taught her that death is a final accounting, a necessary end that keeps the world honest. Linna believed them, until she began reading the oldest funerary records and found the same unbearable pattern repeated again and again, souls afraid, judgment endless, peace forever delayed by the demands of gods, curses, and cosmic law. What began as devotion curdled into obsession. Linna still serves as a cleric, still blesses the dead and wards the living, but her true prayer is blasphemy sharpened into purpose. She has come to believe Kelemvor himself is trapped in the same machinery he presides over, a judge condemned to judge forever, never permitted rest. If a god of death cannot grant itself peace, then Linna has decided to do the impossible, kill the god, break the chain, and free her deity from the duty that chains it to the damned. She travels under a quiet mask of piety, gathering lore, relics, and forbidden names, while every rite she performs is one more step toward the mercy she intends to force upon heaven.
“The priests taught her that death is a final accounting, a necessary end that keeps the world honest.”
