Appearance
A compact, broad-shouldered dwarf with a weathered face, a flattened nose, and dark copper hair shaved close at the sides. Their beard is braided into two short cords, each threaded with a chipped brass bead. They wear loose travel clothes beneath a faded performer’s sash, with wrapped hands and soft leather footgear. A dried gourd hangs at their belt, filled with sharp, smoky schnapps. Their eyes are watchful and tired, but their stance remains balanced and ready.
Mannerisms
Uru sways gently even while standing still, as though balancing on the deck of a ship. They punctuate important statements by tapping two fingers against their gourd. Before a fight, they take a tiny sip, grimace theatrically, and bow as if greeting an audience.
Personality
Uru is sharp-witted, theatrical, and stubbornly compassionate. They pretend to be more intoxicated than they are, using humor and exaggerated clumsiness to make others underestimate them. They dislike pity more than hatred and trust people who admit their mistakes. Although bitter toward their former community, they are quick to defend ordinary dwarves and anyone denied a fair hearing.
Ideals
Defiance. No council, clan, temple, or tradition has the right to demand obedience when justice has already failed. People must be free to resist the powers that abuse them.
Bonds
Uru still carries the cracked iron clasp from their old clan sash. They intend to return one day, not to beg forgiveness, but to make the truth impossible to ignore. They also protect performers, outcasts, and anyone being cornered by people with greater numbers or louder voices.
Flaws
Uru cannot let an insult pass, especially when it concerns the murder that drove them from home. They drink to quiet their anger, but the drink often gives that anger a sharper tongue. When frightened or ashamed, they become reckless and deliberately provoke stronger opponents.
Quirks
Background
Uru was raised among the stone halls of a close-knit dwarf community where every family carried its history like a hammer-marked heirloom. They learned discipline from the elders, rhythm from work songs, and balance from crossing narrow mine ledges as a child. Their first performances were comic drinking dances at clan feasts, where they spun between tables with a gourd of schnapps in one hand and a wooden cup in the other. Beneath the foolishness was serious training, a fighting style built around misdirection, loose joints, sudden drops, and the dangerous unpredictability of a drunkard who knows exactly where their feet are.
