Appearance
Eydes Flameheart is a slim half-elf woman with ash-brown skin, bright green eyes, and long dark hair often tied back with copper wire and scraps of ribbon. Her robes are practical rather than ornate, patched at the elbows and hem, with hidden inner pockets for chalk, ink, and stolen crumbs of parchment. A faint heat shimmer sometimes dances around her fingers when she is excited, and her expression is usually one of focused curiosity, as if every alley, book, and whispered rumor might be a clue waiting to be solved.
Mannerisms
She taps two fingers against her wrist when thinking, as if counting invisible heartbeats. When nervous, she traces sigils in the air with one thumb, and when pleased, she smiles with only one side of her mouth, like someone who has just outsmarted the world.
Personality
Quietly intense, observant, and stubbornly kind, Eydes listens more than she speaks. She is generous with practical help, reluctant with personal truths, and unexpectedly playful once she feels safe. She treats problems like puzzles, and people like mysteries worth solving.
Ideals
Knowledge should be used to protect the helpless, not to preserve the pride of the powerful.
Bonds
She owes her life to the bookbinder who first taught her to read arcane script, and she will risk almost anything to repay that debt. She also keeps a battered city map from her childhood, marked with safe rooftops, hidden drains, and places where she once shared food with other street children.
Flaws
Eydes hoards useful information and has trouble trusting anyone who seems too comfortable with power. When she feels cornered, she becomes sharp-tongued and secretive, and she sometimes lies even when the truth would be easier.
Quirks
Background
Eydes Flameheart grew up in the seam between privilege and hunger, a half-elf child who learned early that a city could be as cruel as any wilderness. She survived by reading doorways, listening through shutters, and following the invisible roads that only the desperate, the cunning, and the invisible know. A kindly bookbinder once caught her stealing scraps of vellum instead of bread and, instead of turning her in, taught her to read the arcane markings hidden in the margins of old texts. That first lesson changed everything. What began as a hunger for warm meals became a hunger for knowledge, and knowledge became power. When she discovered that small bursts of magical flame answered her emotions, she named herself Flameheart with a mixture of defiance and hope. She left the alleys with a stolen notebook, a handful of spells copied by moonlight, and the certainty that magic could be used to protect the people the world ignored. As a wizard, she studies with the intensity of someone who knows every mistake can be fatal, yet her urchin instincts never fully left her. She still trusts back entrances more than front doors, still notices which beggars are spies, and still believes the city itself remembers every kindness and every cruelty.
